Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The person coughs and collapses, struggling to breathe. This draws a lot of attention from people outside, all kneeling down and trying to help him.


"I can make things easier for you. Clear a path with a vessel." The voice echoes, sending a chill down Alice's spine.

 

"Ofcourse. We can wait."

"Hey Anne, maybe we can look around for a wedding cake while we wait?"

 

Alice switches hiding places by moving into the first person to touch the man.


"This is a polite way of telling me I should be tortured for screwing up, isn't it... Well, tell me your price and I'll sleep on it."

"Orrr we could just buy a cake and eat it today." She says, cake clearly on her mind.

 

The person stays by the man's side, trying to figure out what's wrong with him.


"Not tortured, no. Far from it. An equal repayment for my service." The voice echoes ominously.

 

Alice checks to see how the guards are reacting.


"What if I were to ask for... something on top of that? If I'm going to be facing an eternity of misery, I may as well make it two."

 

The guards stay in their position, unmoving.


"And what would you ask for?" The voice responds.

 

"No, it has to be on the day. A special cake for a special day."

 

Alice puts a hole in her new hiding place's lung as well.

Two other of her clones move near the elevator hatch, also looking to drop into the complex.


"Their souls to be taken to Gaia's Gardens."

"What if I just want cake now?" Anne asks, giggling a bit.

 

The person coughs and collapses too, causing people to start covering their mouths and evacuating the area. The guards come over to investigate what's happening.

The hatch is sealed, though Alice is still able to teleport through the darkness.


"I cannot decide that." The voice echoes.

 

Alice stays hidden, waiting for a guard's shadow to loom over her host in order to hide in a guard.

She blinks in and tries to use anyone moving towards the commotion as a free ride towards her targets.


"If you're watching, I would be surprised if she wasn't."

 

A guard soon gets close enough to become inhabited, checking the body of the first victim.


The voice remains silent.

 

She moves into the guard, trying to bide her time.

Her two clones slide down the elevator shaft, looking for a way to force the door open.


"Fine... if I may have the answer to one more question, what is the price I pay for turning my head and leaving the work to others?"

 

The door can't be forced open, completely sealed.


"As I've said, something equal to my assistance given. What happens to them is still up to you, I am merely providing some help." The voice echoes.

 

She checks for any controls, cables, or other connections via wiring or vents.


“I meant if there was punishment for leaving them. I’ve found their location, I know what’s there between their friends and them, and that’s my job. I’m a detective, not a ninja.”

 

The elevator itself has buttons and what looks like a keyhole, though there's nothing exposed.


"Do you believe there will be punishment for leaving them?" The voice asks.

 

"Then you'd be disappointed. Ofcourse, you can have a bit of Siln's cake once we've delivered it to him."

 

Alice opts to press buttons, one clone slipping into the keyhole.


“Gods are watching. You lot interact with mortals once in a blue moon, and you were the one who reached out to me. If there would be no punishment, I wouldn’t have an audience.”

“But we’re buying him a pie, and I have enough money to buy myself a cake.”

 

The keyhole ends up stabbing her clone, seeming to be a device for extracting a bit of blood. The elevator makes a loud, low pitched droning sound; light turning red.


"We will not punish you for leaving them." The voice echoes ominously.

 

Alice opts to bite the guard’s stomach, dumping bile into the rest of their body.

Her clone doesn’t bleed, and instead continues trying to make the device activate.


“Well, they can’t catch me without Temporus’ help, so thanks for telling me calling it quits is an option.”

 

The guard clutches his stomach, falling to his knees and then the ground. The other guard slips on a pair of goggles, looking around before seeming to stare right at Alice.

It seems blood is the only way, and the elevator is too fortified to break into it's wiring.


"Do you still desire my help?" The voice asks.
