Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"So, what, we just keep going?"
He asks, starting to do exactly that.

 

*a pie.
(Auto correct)

"A pie, please."

 

Alice just waits.

The man stomps the ground, a small geyser of lava erupting in front of you.

"Without dying, ideally."

"Berry pie, or...?"

 

"What flavors do you have?"

 

The person leaves.

"The janitors will take care of it." Alice hears him think as he puts his used gloves in a bin, before heading back out into the hallway.

The person heads toward a more secure area, once again needing to scan his card. Security seems far higher here and he heads toward a heavily sealed set of doors at the far end of the hallway. People seem to join him, though take lefts and rights to go around the doors. The guards at the door take out a few devices as he puts his arms out, and one begins beeping.

"Hm, larger amount of darkness in you than usual. We'll need to check for a Shadow." The guard says.

Alice might need to make a hasty escape.

 

She checks for any bits of darkness to slink off into.

"Apple, strawberry, raspberry-rhubarb, and key lime are all we have at the moment. If you didn't need it tonight, we'd have a few more."

 

Someone passes by, heading to the right. If Alice is quick, she might be able to hide in them unnoticed.

 

She tries to slink into the passersby, using their shadow as cover.

 

"I think I'll go with apple. Everyone likes apples, right?"

 

“That’s a pretty safe bet. Does your friend like cinnamon, or is a plain apple pie better?”

 

Alice manages to do so, and the person she was hiding in manages to enter heavily-fortified room without trouble.

As the passerby walks around, Alice finds them heading to a viewing window. What looks like a pair of water guardians reside in the room. One of them looks male, nailed to the wall in many places. The other looks female, though they're tied to a chair with all four limbs missing; a large pool of blood under them. A pair of humans reside in the room with them, wearing black suits. Their heads seem to be covered by large animal masks stained in blood.

The person Alice was hiding in walks into the room, and people seem to start getting excited.

 

"Ehm. I'm not sure. But leave the cinnamon out just incase."

 

"Right."
He evades the geyser, continuing down the tunnel.

 

Alice just waits, watching and continuing to take notes back at home.

The man moves the tip of his spear, and the magma moves with it.

"Stop joking around and shoot the bastard!" They urge, annoyed.

They nod.
"It'll be just a minute, it's still in the kitchen."

 

The person kicks the guardian in the chair over, the guardian screaming in pain as she lands hard on an exposed bone. The guardian nailed to the wall tries to move, lash out, but can't. The most he achieves is just wiggling a bit.

"You are nothing. Your kind is a blight to this world, and your false god won't save you. Even now, your 'armies' are being shot down in their worthless attempt to 'save' you. Your time of killing us and pushing us back from resources we deserve has ended," The human says with spite in his voice, "But, we are not above reason. We can make this a little easier on you, or we can make it much harder. Talk. Spill your secrets, and we might consider letting you live in a cell."

The water guardian remains silent, lying awkwardly on the floor. The human's expression changes to a more frustrated one, and he forces her chair back up; pulling her with it. One of the animal-masked humans takes out a saw, stepping closer to the guardian in the chair.

"Well, you know what happens when you don't talk." The human says, shaking his head.

 

Alice looks for a way in the room.


Alice forcefully links with you.
"Hey, mister I-have-a-sword, you have a sword and I need your ass over here right the hell now. No, I don't care if I'm not allowed to order my king around, I am literally looking at Katie's parents." She says bluntly, showing you a telepathic image of the map with the facility location marked. "I have the route to their cells mapped, but I can't do jack shit about anything because of the nullmagic."

 

The only way in is through the secure door, and the guards would probably execute her the moment she came out of hiding.


"I actually can't. Right now it's anyone's victory and if I let up, Artemis and everyone else is going to be slaughtered." I say, sounding distracted.

 

Alice opts to try and take a bite out of the person she's hiding in from the inside, ready to let the clone go feral if it fails.


"Fair enough, but I'm telling you, unless I find a vent system somewhere, Katie's going to join Ihra and Artemis."

 

The person clutches the area they're bitten, looking a little pained.


"I'd help if I could, but I really can't right now." I say.

Alice feels her connection suddenly change.

"You need help, do you not?" A voice echoes hauntingly in her mind, "I can send you help. A friend you know...for a price."

 

Alice decides to sink a tooth into their lung, hoping for an opportunity to switch hiding places.


"You're all watching, and have been watching for how long now? I don't get to choose if I want to play hero, do I?"
Pause.
"Besides, I'm not the one who needs help. I might be after this, but that's a story for... somewhere else."
