Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Alice leans back and takes another sip of her tea, raising her free hand which drips with darkness.

The four small pools turn into four other bodies, each seeming to completely vanish from sight.
"Alright, you gonna tell me something I can actually use, or do I get to scour the planet on my own?" She asks, seeming fairly irritated.

 

"The most we know is from human news articles. They're probably being held in a big city of some kind away from the ocean." Abigail says.

 

"Give me names, give me titles, give me locations. I don't need you to confirm you don't know much." She says, annoyed. "You know that time is of the essence. I'd rather not waste it."

 

"All I can say is Katie's parents are called Aquira and Sidus, both highly renowned pirates and captains of the Blue Amber." Abigail shrugs.

 

"You are totally screwed if they have Kiin as well." She sighs.

The four clones slip to nearby cities, bending space to become completely invisible en route and jumping from host to host from the shadows to look for any newspaper or news broadcast that has any relevant information.

 

Alice finds a few people reading newspapers headlined with 'Major guardian pirate ship destroyed' and explaining how a huge army of human warships surrounded the Blue Amber, killing most of it's crew. Aquira and Sidus were captured from it and taken away in order to gain more information on their exploits and the other pirates. Apparently a lot of their stolen goods sank to the bottom of the ocean, along with a pair of large icy looking crystals that didn't appear to have much value.

Alice notices Aquira and Sidus were apparently taken to the capital city of the next country over.

 

Back at her house, Alice heads inside and locks the door.

She looks for a map to find the capital city, attempting to further narrow down her search.


Aj notices what seems to be a torn up and long dead head of a scaled beast poking out from some nearby brush, but it seems to still be watching him.

 

Alice finds a map of her town tucked away in a drawer, but no world maps.


I draw Shadow Katana, keeping my eyes on the beast's head and watching the ground between me and it.

 

She sends her bodies off to look for one, main body drawing a copy based off what the others find.


The head doesn’t budge, and there’s nothing strange about the ground.
“W-wait... please don’t.” A voice rasps from behind the shrub.

 

"Kind of bored, so yes. We probably have other things to do aswell."

 

“That was quick.”
Voidfiller catches the acorn.

 

She finds a map of the world in her town's museum and library, the capital city she needs marked on it.


I quickly slice through the shrub, before pulling it away to try to reveal who's hiding behind it.

 

Arga silently comes out of the back room and peeks outside.
"Alright, you can choose to clear out, or you can be forced to clear out. Take your pick."

Half the crowd flees.

She marks down the general direction before sending her clones towards the capital, again hiding in anyone looking at the news.


It seems to be some sort of undead hydra with only one head that functions.
"H-hold on, I can explain..."

"I've been here a while now."

 

Once Alice reaches the capital, she finds the news much harder to understand. It appears to be written in a different language, and the people speak differently too. Huge buildings create gaps for pathways and roads through the city, cars rushing past on the roads. Alice finds a few people who speak a language she understands, but they appear to be few and far between.


"You've got nine seconds." I say, pointing Shadow Katana at the hydra.

 

She mimics the writing she sees, attempting to run it through a translation spell in her main body.


“I was looking for a different Gaia and was told to rot in the wild.” She says hastily.

 

Alice manages to translate it fairly easily. The main article is still the same as before, and the other articles seem to be irrelevant.


"And?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

 

She tries threading translation spells to her clones, seeing if the news broadcasts are still also the same.


“I couldn’t find any portal anywhere, but she showed me mercy, gave me something to consume... it had been so long.” She says, starting to lose hope.

 

"Looks like some people want to risk it, Arga."

 

The news broadcasts are fairly similar, the only difference in their wording.

"Good riddance. Bloody pirates..." Alice hears one of the people watching the broadcast say.


"Why were you watching me?" I ask, bringing Shadow Katana's sharp point closer to the hydra.

 

She pays it no mind, looking for any other details other than they're simply captured.


"I feel traces of her on you, signs you know where she is."

You hear a stone statue fall to the ground, and Arga steps aside, a path out visible.
"Take it easy tonight, you two."
