It tookme this long to finish up the main villain(s?) of this part, wow.

Looking a bit sad after you ignored his answer.

"I just said I've never been there maybe 5 seconds ago. I know it's south of those huge mountains, and... dry and sandy, I guess? I studied magic, not geography."

My rural minnesota upbringing (despite living in the most heavy metropolitan area in the state for only 2 years) compels me to say it's not exactly what I had planned, but I'll use some of your ideas anyway.

The northern gate is quite well lit, and with this not being a rich part of the city with lamps, easily able to be found against the surrounding darkness. Making your way there, the gatekeeper sees you and orders his men to hand-crank it.
"No supplies, eh? You can pick up a wagon at Ruby Falls if yer leavin' the valley."

With that, you're outside. It's not the dead of night, certainly, but it's quite hard to see. Your stomach grumbles, as you probably haven't had a decent meal since you left that upperclass inn.

Bed, jewlery desk, lamp, stone chest with maybe 20 padlocks.

Kale: "Illusions, with a small heaping of regular damaging and warding spells. There's this one really powerful mage I've idolized for a while, and I've sort of shaped myself like him."

    Loot:
    [5] GC
    [2] Knives [+0]
    Clothes

The summer engines are taking off. I can reply like a normal person now.

    • Kyre valley map updated, in order to accommodate places I've written about but aren't actually on the map, and also to reflect Kyuvaar's actual size more. The valley's only a few miles across, and even this isn't really right, but oh well.

You pass a guard post, and directions from them give you an hour's walk to the other end, to this 'Ruby Falls'.

Also, now that I've actually written stuff about a huge chunk of the empire I can do this.
(the capital is both so much bigger and so much more complicated than I though it would be - mechanically, it's not a settlement/city, but a region)
(pop: 1,393): Built by a large waterfall at the northwestern end of the valley, about an hour from Kyuvaar, this mining town’s main export is large amounts of corundum, an amazing substance for magic gems. It's only a few years old, but it's already a boom town. Despite the main mine collapsing in some kind of battle last month, there are plenty of secondaries to make up for the gap, and it's still going strong.

It's night now, but most people aren't asleep, so you easily find the town despite it being hundreds of feet off the path. It's roughly the same size as the Riverthrone from where you're standing, and it's nestled right next to one of the smaller mountains/larger hills bordering the valley.
Getting close to the buildings on the edge, the people you can see are either restless or staying in their homes, trembling. Seems news spreads faster than in the city. A... poorly armed squad approaches you. Their armor is rusted near the edges, and some sets are imcomplete. Their swords, spears, and axes they own are a bit dulled, and cracked in some places. What looks to be their leader steps up, with another one of those weird crescent-bladed spear things the guards had in the city.

Guard: "Halt. We've gotten reports of unrest in the valley, and need to make sure you aren't a bandit or something. Why are you here?"

It's exactly what you would expect. A solid pound of extremely valuable looking earrings, bracelets, necklaces, rings, and everything else you'd need, and a few of them look to be made of solid gold.

Kale: "You're tenacious, aren't you? I could easily start asking why you two are wearing pitch black cloaks. I've seen tons of you over the city today."

Dez:"oh that's easy to answer. It all happened 3 days ago. First I woke up tied up in a room ready to be sacrificed by cultists, I got my stuff back and killed them all and burnt their house down, I took one of the cloaks, because why not. Then I made my way to Riverthrone and found more cultists. I lured two of them in an ally, got some info and then cut one of their heads off and threw it at the rest of them. After that I ran to the tavern and found this guys" I cast alter self and turn into the fake bartender "he apparently was their boss so I killed him in an ally five minutes later and read this book" I pull out the book about running a cult "it's about running a cult apparently so I'm trying to find someone to sell it to. After that I wondered the streets and found more cultists so I followed them to a secret base under the tavern, there I waited and stole a stolen delivery while it was being delivered. So for a bit I had the key to heaven and some weird potion that made my scales go like this" I drop alter self and make my scales to how they were after I drank the silver potion "then I wondered the streets again and came back to a bar fight I stopped it by creating this" I basic illusion a beholder "and found some guy with a booming voice who looked like this" I alter self into Leon "and we decided to go find out more about the cult. We found a warehouse with this guy in it" I alter self into Leren "and this guy killed the booming guy while I killed this guy with fire, and got knocked out. Then while I was out I spoke to this guy" I alter self into Harstag "he's apparently a god and stuff. When I woke up this women" I alter self into Fayuma "had tied me up and forced me to join some mercenaries. On the way to getting here we fought this monstrosity" I illusion the a small version of the blood bear "just it was a lot bigger and exploded in blood, that's why my bandana is bloody. I fell asleep in a wagon and woke up in an inn so I went to explore the town. I went into a pet store and bought this raven and saved this guy" alter self into the shop owner of the pet store" from that thing" I make an illusion of the sleeping dragon "but first I needed to talk to this guy" alter self into the headmaster "to teach me a spell. Oh and also I went to this guy" alter self into Rykos "to get some items cheked out and sell a miniature sun in a wand to him. Then I went to a burning tavern and got ambushed by this guy" alter self into the first death squad leader "and his death squad, then I layed low for a bit, and now I'm here"

    I'll make a tldr in a bit
basically I tell him my actions except
    burning down Riverthrone
    robbing the bookstore
I dont tell him about any of the spells I've gotten
And I don't tell him about the pendant

    I also cast
    basic illusion 3 times
    Alter self 9 times
And I changed the color of my scales to the color I got from the silver potion

I take some of the valuables - enough to be worth selling, but leaving enough that it's hard to notice the missing ones. My amount is only as much as I can carry/fit in my backpack.

Han nuzzles up next to you. For now, it seems to be forgiven.
The lizardman, on the other hand, keeps talking. Talking and casting an overabundance of blue spells on himself.
In one breath, too. Impressive. He finally stops talking maybe 5 minutes later.
    Wait.
    No.
He's still going, it was just a pause.
A few minutes after that, and he finally stops talking. Safe to say he didn't hear you.

    SO MUCH TEXT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
    "Kale" steps back a bit.
    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
"To be honest, I only heard half of that. Still, you really are tenacious. Zethrair, at your service. Still, call me Kale. Trust me, I've made some people angry."
    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
He seems to be telling the truth this time.

Guard: "All the good guards got sent down to Kyuvaar. Something about the hei- the new high lord having some event. It's just my squad here, although I'm kind of glad we didn't go if what you're saying is true. Most of the refugees are probably headed to Eood or Forge, if the rumors I heard aren't true."

You take about a tenth of it, stuffing it into your arguably oversized robber bag along with your other plundered loot. It's still a ridiculous amount of jewelry.

I play around with Han for a bit while the lizard's talking. A bit afterwards, I look towards the ghostie (who's name I forgot already. .-.).
"Uh... What were you doing again?"

You dive out of the room, landing back just outside the house where you started, in the middle of what's clearly a gang ambush.
    "Wrong turf, mouse-thing."

Zethrair: "..You could say that, yes."
Behind him, the building you were in/set on fire collapses by way of giant boulder.

Guard: "Well, you don't have ill intent, so you can pass. If you need anything, we'll be in the Fuzzy Duckling tavern. Has some cheap rooms, but a proper inn is right across the street anyway."

Ghostie, who's name is now not Kadesh and has in fact been lost forever: "Following you, I'd guess? I can't really kill... whatever that monster is."

Right on cue, you hear a massive roar and something collapse near you.

    Rich neighbor hoods, nice choice.
You steer towards the nearest empty-looking McManor you can find, although there's a slight problem as there appears to be a mouse-person-thing there in the middle of being ambushed by half a dozen people.
