Helping your situation a bit, there are only a few roads out of the now-destroyed square, and all but one are off to the side, where quite a few guards are running in.

He smiles and winks, Behind him, smoke starts emerging from the building you cast flame strike in.

Dez:"Here's a tip for you. If you don't want people to ask questions you don't throw around thinks like 18,000 gold. All you have done is peeked my interest even more, so can you just tell me your name and I'll tell you mine?"

Seemingly out of nowhere, 3 extremely convenient bandits have appeared to derail the conversation. Their arrival is extremely convenient (mostly entirely for 'Kale'), and the only reason this is happening is because clearly the GM wants to retain the mystery aspect of his OC (do not steal!!1!).
No reason otherwise.

Han certainly does, and you two essentially come as a unit anyway. Even if he's still oblivious, there's the new guy, so you have a fairly wide range of options here for knowing that.

Hey I've made a new post in our PM's.

 

Hey so it's summer. all the big celebrations(?) I keep getting dragged to are over(?), and this is basically me saying I added another slot. I'm planning to gradually ease into 10 until September when school starts again and I instantly regret this.
I'll deal with that by having quit slots be permanently burned until we're back to 6. This system will be of course unsustainable over the long run as we gain more dedicated players, but hey, I'll cross that bridge then because future me is always smarter than present me, even though present me is technically a future me to a past me who was the present me at the time.

New ghost guy: "Are we leaving? We are?"

You leave the square with the massive elemental, with the final slightly worrying fact that its core is starting to grow larger, brighter, and it all-around beginning to resemble the now (apparently permanently extinguished) magic supernova thing.

Spoiler: TSU ONLY (well not really all of this is just ooc to anyone else especially Dez)

Winding through an entire single turn over the course of maybe a minute, you and your ethereal pseudo-group step over/through a small pile of corpses at the sight of 3...odd people in front of you. One of them has a variety of items that shouldn't be magical but inexplicably are, including his clothes. The second, you can only tell because of the outline of a magical necklace of some sort. Probably not a caster. The third one is the clearest of the bunch, with a ring on a hand, a violin on their back, and a golden glowing outline similar to the blue lizardman. Extremely similar actually, it looks like the same person with different clothes, and matches the shopkeeper's description to boot! He's talking with a second group of three people, bandits? Robbers? Their outfits are pretty stereotypical, and they all have that blue outline to them. Odd, they don't seem to be spellcasters.

Robber 1: "Oh, nothing much. Our desires are rather small."
Robber 2: "Namely, everything you own."
Robber 3: "You can do that, right?"

They're speaking like they've rehearsed this really well. Is this some kind of routine?

Younger Old Man: "Godsblood, the potion's called. They'd heal you completely and make you regenerate extremely quickly for a short while, just at a cost of a day's exhaustion, a permanent decrease in strength and lifespan, and possibly death. Don't know why anyone would make one, and I'm not going to argue with a suicidal buyer. Anyway, you're what? A caster? I'll just give you something on the weaker end of things. you'll be fine. 5 Gold for those."

Oh I'm completely screwed in every way.

The lizardman with the gold aura kills(?) one of the three blue figures further down the road with some kind of damage spell he channels out of the violin. Not that you see much a difference, it's just a glowing blue bandit crumpled on what's probably the ground. You can't tell.


As for the other guy, yeah, you can see his clothes, cloak, and accessories, pretty much everything except his person, glowing in an odd mishmash of gold purple, and a lighter cyan that you haven't seen used before. It's actually kind of odd, and - wait.

Spoiler: Hey look we're going into spoiler territory again whee

You notice a faint blue trail leading from the outlined clothes person towards the two living bandits, as if he's channeling magic into them. It gets a bit worse as him and his clothes suddenly flash a brilliant blue, same you've been seeing.

It hits him, and without even combat, he falls like a ragdoll.

Bandit 2: "Oh no. I have dieed. Noooo"

The response to this?

Bandit 1: "You've killed our friend! Unacceptable!"
Bandit 3: "Pay attention to this knife, because it's gonna kill you!"

They aren't moving. Haven't stepped an inch.

Oh, yeah. Someone's calling out to you from behind, you think? You can't really hear it, and it's quiet and fuzzy.

Well....

I ignore the voice for now and in quick session shoot two fire balls at both of them

I go find a way out of this town before it gets even more fucked up and I know it will.

 

I know not everyone will respond, and most of the three I just brought up have good reasons. Even if you don't, at least there's a tag here and your message appears further up. Easier to quote like this, too.

They... they don't even try anything. They're dead, just like that. kind of anticlimactic, really.

You're just realizing this now?
The good news is that you're on the northern end of town, and you can actually see the north gate from here. Maybe a few blocks away.

Every guard in the city's rushing towards said bodies, and every sane person is running as far away from them as possible. Your sunset passes without much note, until you find yourself in what looks like the richer parts of the city.

It's maybe a rushed 10 minute run, along with quite a few guards that also seem to have been sent to the area.
As you enter further into the massive plume of smoke, the area around you turns more and more into what could only really be described as a warzone. Buildings have been leveled, massive portions of what looks to be the city wall are haphazardly strewn where entire blocks used to be, and occasionally you can see sillouettes of things that are definitely not human guardsmen in the smoke.
