Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I found us a bluff. Wanna check it out later?"

 

The eye stares a bit more before retracting back to Voidfiller, who talks with me a bit before taking the fabric and dropping into a portal and disappearing.

 

"Well, pick a god and I'll pass you the books on them."


Miorah nods.
"Thank you."

"You found one? Hell yes!"

Nobody seems to care.

 

I stall time by doing the puzzles in the puzzle book until Mel confronts me.

 

"The water god, if you're not reading about them." Artemis says.


The royal Shadow flips through papers, writing and signing things; seeming to lose track of what's around him as he writes.

 

"I am, but here. This'll be a bit of basics on him." Ihra says, taking a book from the bottom of the pile.


Miorah waits, unsure of where to go.

The first thing to interrupt you is the sunrise; Mel doesn't come until another hour after.
"Hey, sunrise means everyone's out."

 

Artemis accepts the book, sitting near to Ihra and reading it.


The royal Shadow just fills in his papers, not noticing Miorah waiting.

 

The first section details his physical strength and features. His merfolk form seems to be rather weak, but his leviathan form is strong enough to crack the crust of most planets.


“...Does Alice know about you?” Miorah asks after a few minutes.

 

Artemis reads on.


"Alice? Who is she?" The royal Shadow asks, looking up.

 

"Yeah. Calm down. First we have to get our clothes."

 

He seems to be completely unable to leave the water, a note added stating he’s never needed to leave his own domain, and his magic allows him to manipulate the will and innate magic within anyone near him. There’s also a sticky note with two words written on it: “No Stephanie”


“A draconian who gave her life to Tenebrae to become a shadow. Responsible for the big gang bust that shut eight major crime groups down, and gave up half of her strength so the king could fight back against the mimics.”

“Oh, come on, everything’s lining up! Our big day might be perfect!” She says, excited.

 

Artemis ponders on the note for a while, seeming to get lost in her own mind.


"Ah, yes, Detective Alice. I remember now. I'm not sure how much she knows of me, I don't think we've formally met." The royal Shadow says.

 

Ihra goes back to reading another book.


“She’s offered to help the king and queen with paperwork, and she’s irritated they declined. I’m not sure how she’d react to find that someone else already does that.”

 

Artemis snaps out of it, reading onward.


"Well, I can understand why. Being the royal advisor is a fairly high position." The royal Shadow says happily.

 

O’rogal seems to be extremely caring about his students, regularly visiting every one within his domain. However, he seems to have a fascination with isolation and mystery, where he will disappear for months on end in an unbreachable storm or deadly currents.


“Advisor? There’s no way she doesn’t...”
Pause.
“...Ah.”

 

Artemis continues to read, committing it all to memory.


"I often only fill in for the royalty when they're away like this, so I can understand why Alice may not have seen me." The royal Shadow says.

 

“Nice.”
I close the book with the pencil in it and stand up.

 

"Don't jinx it."

 

She also reads that he can easily detect weaknesses and read minds, along with being able to break down how somebody did anything, assuming it was in the past.


“Actually...”
“Hey, it’s not illegal, sue me.” Alice growls, leaving the advisor.
“That’s why you’ve been quiet, isn’t it?”
“Well pardon me for keeping tabs on everything.”

“Right, right. I won’t.”

He unlocks your cell and hands you your blade.

 

Artemis looks for any known weaknesses or counters.


"O-Oh, Detective Alice, I...uh, wasn't expecting you here." The royal Shadow says.
