Raedurg: "You know, we could use a Manticore."
Anyway, I cast compulsion on the manticore and tell it to fly in my direction. WIS save.

 

Anafenza prepares a conveniently located Attack of Opportunity + Divine Smite for if it passes her in its flight.

 

OOC Raedurg: "Don't you dare..."

 

OOC Anafenza: "Halt!"
OOC Anafenza mutters something under her breath.

That passes, sadly.

Yep, that's the plan.

 

Until Anafenza loses her patience and fires off a point-blank eldritch blast to the head.

 

And then she gets teamed by a pissed-off Raedurg and Natasha.

 

I kind of want to see how that would go in a test battle.

 

Actually Natasha would probably just try to intervene. She doesn't want the party to tear itself apart over Raedurg's unhealthy minion obsession and Anafenza's mind-control-phobia.

 

I mean, at least Raedurg's minion obsession is productive.

 

And seems almost tongue-in-cheek designed to piss off Anafenza at this point. Tone it down a notch, this is a campaign where our survival depends on our teamwork.

 

Fair, though the more "people" we have, the better our chances are.

 

Right, right. Let me just remind you that you're a mere d8 caster, so alienating our party's only tank might not be a strategic move in the long term.

Manticore 1 jumps forward and pounces on Anafenza. It’s bite does not penetrate his armor, and one of the slashes misses. The second slash hits, though.

Attack Roll: 15 + 11 = 26.
Damage Roll: 9 + 7 = 16 piercing damage.
As it leaps at Anafenza, she impales it through the head and steps out of the way of its falling corpse. Even if it had survived, its movement would have stopped.

 

So, combat over?

Anafenza sheathes her halberd, uses 9 points of Lay on Hands on herself, and goes back to the caravan.
Anafenza: "Well, that's over."

 

Raedarg should have spells like unseen servant and tiny servant if he wants to have his own minions.
