[d&d] The Fall Of A City [8/8]

Two new pages glow and have filled themselves with words and illustrations.

Eyeverns (Raptors)
Flying monstrosities fitted with armor specifically designed for them. Larger, higher tier raptors have more equipment and a wider range of combat abilities. They seem to be closely associated with the Eye and are the most common monster in The City, unfortunately. I’ve had too much experience with these birds, not pleasant memories.

Lower on the page: If they’d stop chasing me, maybe I’d be able to more closely examine them.

Eye Dropper (Controller)
Very large constructs that are almost direct copies of city patrol guards, with Eye gear of course. Are typically only deployed in specific circumstances. They are almost always dropped from some high elevation, as it allows them to be activated automatically. The large screen on their “head” is able to record and broadcast information to who-knows-where.

IMPORTANT: During the most recent operation I’ve come to realize that these bots... bleed? Oddly enough once it was destroyed it oozed the usual purple stuff along with what looked to be literal blood. I don’t have a good feeling about the Eyes and their ever evolving army.

Pinky looks back a couple times while hesitated to follow, but goes along with you shortly after.

 

“...Did you not eat yet?”

 

Pinky climbs down the ladder and sits on the floor, exhausted.
“That was.. something.”

 

“No kidding.”
I sit on the floor as well, put away my rod, and take out my Book of Shadows.
“I’m certainly ready to rest.”

 

Rikane: “While I was up on the rooftop, this figure with a five starred eye mask came up and told us to leave. Know anything bout that?”

 

She freezes after you say that.
“Pinky”: “W-what about them? Did they have anything else on them?”

 

Rikane: “Aside from the mask, just a bunch of bags, a firearm, and combat clothing, all black. Well, mostly black. His vest had some purple detailing. You’d think he’d fight us on sight, but he was strangely... passive.”

 

"Yeah, a different one had a similar mask, and he fought on-sight."

 

She composes herself and tells you seriously:
"Pinky": "I'm surprised he didn't rip you all to bits once he saw you. The last time we, A.R.M.A, encountered him.. things didn't go so well. Keep in mind that this was him alone, without aid."
Pinky stands up and paces around the bunker.
"He's one of The Six, the elite Eyes that don't show themselves, usually. We've only seen him in person, but that only makes him more dangerous. Was he riding any animal or thing?"

"Another one that looked exactly like him?"
She pauses and looks at you with doubt and nervousness.

 

Daniel: "Does each of The Six have a different number of stars of their mask? Or is that purely coincidental?"

I begin to remove various armor plates, fixing the dents and scratches I sustained in the fight.

 

Are you still holding the book, by any chance?

 

“Well, not exactly. He didn’t have any starts with his mask, and resorted faster to trying to kill us. Daniel and I kicked his shit in.”

 

I set it on a table next to me or something.

 

Pinky: "That one's just a low-level then-"
She notices something on the table, and walks towards it.

"Where'd you find this..?"

 

"Old locker. Why? I noticed the pages revealing themselves whenever we killed something, but... well, magical items aren't really anything new to me. I didn't think too much of it."

 

"I wrote it, that's why I ask. I thought I lost it back then. Where did all the writing go? Ugh."
She picks up the book and thoroughly inspects it.
"If this was laying around in a locker down here, I wonder what else ended up here. Be right back."
She puts the book down and hurries up the ladder to the top floor.

 

She returns with a bunch of stuff, which she dumps on a table and begins looking through.
"I find this all so odd."

 

I trot over to the table and look over the stuff.
“I thought you’re supposed to be the one who’s been seeing this stuff.”

 

Rikane: “He wasn’t riding anything that I could see, though he seemed... concerned about the bird... thing.”

 

There's not that much stuff, but it's obvious it belongs to her.
- A pink baseball cap with a logo on it: "x_x"
- A black belt pouch
- A notebook and a pen
- A small photo album
- Assorted pins and patches

Pinky puts on the cap and belt pouch before glancing at you with a dignified look.
"Pinky": "What? The monsters? I see them clearly. Which is why I document them."
She lifts up the book and hands it to you. "The Encyclopedia of the Unknown" (Will add to the folder soon)
"It's less than useful for now, something's been placed on it that has wiped the pages."
