Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Rose pauses.
“Please be okay, I didn’t mean it...” She whispers, nervous before leaving the arena entirely and trying to keep to herself.

 

A few fire guardians glance at her as Rose passes, though none say anything.

Rose ends up in a marketplace of sorts, though nobody appears to be trading money. Many people seem to work with the people selling items, or trading in items of their own. Armour and accessories appear to be some of the most popular items traded on the market.

 

Nervous, Rose opts to head back towards the training grounds but keeps distance, hoping to see Cid again.

 

Cid is nowhere to be found, though many other fire guardians training can be.

Rose overhears a conversation relating to Cid, one of the fire guardians asking where he is.

 

Rose runs over.
“I need help. I’m new here, and I don’t know how spirits are able to rejoin with bodies. We dueled, please, I want him back.” She says, trembling.

 

"Huh?" The fire guardian asks, confused.

 

“Cid, he’s in the arena. He said we would duel to the death, and... I don’t know how to bring him back.” She says, still nervous.

 

"I don't know. Cleaning them would be difficult because water hurts her."

 

"Oh, he'll probably be in the graveyard then." The fire guardian says.

 

“Where’s that?” Rose asks, still seeming worked up.

“Oh... that definitely makes things difficult. How does she even clean herself, then?”

 

The fire guardian waves his hand in a 'follow' motion, heading off to somewhere near to the arena.

The fire guardian leads rose to an area full of lit iron lanterns. Pools of lava appear to be in front of each lantern, some bubbling occasionally.

 

Rose follows silently, a solemn look overtaking her face.
“...Are these sort of like recovery chambers?” She asks after a minute.

 

The fire guardian nods.

"It's different for each town, but this is where we have them." The fire guardian says.

 

“Is there any way to identify who’s who, or does my apology get to wait a while?”

 

"Unless you're a spirit I don't think you'd be able to see who's in which grave." The fire guardian shrugs.

 

“I can usually see them. Kill count aside, I practice the healing side of pyromancy. I suppose it’d be better to let him rest... if only I stopped and offered him a chance to surrender, I could’ve spared him going through this...” She says, frustrated with herself.

 

"Death doesn't carry as much weight here than it does on Earth. I wouldn't worry about it." The fire guardian says.


I step through a portal near to the void palace library, heading inside and looking around for Emerald.

 

Rose sighs, then nods.
“It means something else entirely where I hail.”


Emerald’s just outside the portal.
“Where are you keeping Lady Gaia? Also, did Tenebrae receive Xlentia’s thank you gift, and is Mortius fine?” She asks in a rapid-fire fashion, seeming a bit crazed.

 

The fire guardian gives Rose a confused look.


"The palace, and I don't know for the last two," I say, "Where's Artemis?"

 

Rose shakes her head.
“I’m from a different reality, formerly serving under a ruthless god. Forced to play his vile game just to see what the rest of the world offers, only to be dragged back and do it all over again.”


“Stasis room, just coming out of stasis. Sgavrinn on the other hand might need a trip to Lady Gaia to recover. You ought to be proud of him for tossing you two out of harm’s way... anyhow, yeah. Stasis room. Just look for Avis, she’s practically been sitting in front of Artemis’ chamber since she got here.”
