Another Dungeons & Dragons Campaign (6/6 Players)

Elzen asks Knaal: "Would you be able to change 1 silver piece into 10 copper pieces? The elf only wants copper ones."
Elzen checks what feathers his arrows are fletched with, if they are owl feathers he gives the elf one.

 

I just realized how much I missed from broken notifications. Should I just assume I'm with the rest of the group, or...?

 

Where did he get the arrows?

You followed the group through town. Everyone except for Liun is at a magic shop doing some stuff, and Liun is... You don't know where Liun is.

 

I guess I'll look around the magic shop, see if there's anything remotely affordable (I highly doubt it, but you never know).

 

He started off with them. A warlock can get a crossbow with 20 bolts, you allowed him to choose a shortbow with 20 arrows instead. So I guess he got them from a village somewhere or from where he originally came from.

 

How much is affordable in this context?

Right. I don't have anything about the original elven homeland, so...

Apparently, they were generally fletched with goose feathers. That said, maybe elves fletch their arrows with amber-covered leaves or whatever. I haven't actually decided.

The more important part about the feather-fletching thing here is that the feathers were cut in half before being attached to the arrow, so they're not exactly in good enough condition to be used as spell components.

How much does he have? He should have at least 10 GP or so from his background equipment.

 

Why does he even need an owl feather? Assuming he cast identify he wouldn't need another feather as it doesn't consume it.

 

19 GP, iirc.

 

Elzen has 17GP, they're both poorer then the rest of the group though because we joined later. Hopefully the DM lets them find some catch up money later...

 

Maybe NPC-Identify consumes the feather, even though the player one doesn't. At least the pearl isn't consumed...

What's his budget for buying something? Kaelari magic items are more common than in many other places.

 

Also as you're also here Elzen asks you if you can exchange one silver piece for 10 copper ones because the elf only wants to be paid in copper ones. Also fyi that is the correct exchange rate.

 

Huh, wasn't expecting that. Let's say about 8-10 gp.

Funnily enough, I actually have change for situations like this. I'll do the exchange.

 

Elzen: "Thanks", he then pays the elf 20 copper pieces and says "As you know I don't have an owl feather right now, is it okay if I go and look for one to give you later?"

 

The shelves of the shop have arcane foci, some weaker magic items (a tattered gray cloak, a shapeless cloth cap, a coil of thread, a lead ring with an empty spot for a gem, and a candle with dark blue markings), "broken" versions of other items, and spell scrolls of cantrips and 1st-level spells (mainly Evocation and Conjuration spells) within your price range.

The elf takes the copper pieces and puts them into his pocket.
Elf: "That's fine."

 

Do I have any idea what these do?

 

Assuming Elzen can't identify the purple dust either with Arcana checks he asks the elf: "What would it cost to identify this?" and shows him the dust.

• The cap is labeled "Pull out rats".
• The thread is labeled "Very high amounts of thread".
• The lead ring has no label.
• The candle is labeled "Burn underwater".
