Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Right."

"But what are those portals you spoke off? I might have heard of similair things."

 

"Opening the portal early would be an unwise move, to say the least." Eve says.

A short while later, Tenebrae arrives. Mortius appears to have come with her.

"Good to see you again, Xlentia." Tenebrae says with a smile.

 

"Oh, good, I wasn't tricked. I wish this was on better terms." Xlentia nods, claw ripping open a portal to a huge earthen palace... that's partially molten, covered in ashes, and has a giant phoenix scorching fae left and right from the roof.

"Well... I suppose it's time we show the god of war what it means to fight us?"

"There are portals to other worlds, all linked to some weird giant palace swarming with draconians and dragons."

 

Eve immediately jumps through the portal, Mortius pushing ahead and entering it too. As more fae add to the already dead, Mortius appears to become even more powerful, readying his huge scythe.

"Apologies, Mortius seemed very moved by the events happening here." Tenebrae says, waiting for Xlentia step through before her.

 

"He needs to be wary. The closer he is to death, the stronger he is. If he's hanging on by a thread, he can outmatch all three of us with brute force alone." Xlentia warns, rushing through and swiping at Atavul, who reels back and sends a wall of purely white flame towards Xlentia.

Eve can see a glowing green crystal visible between the now-rubble-piles that were Gaia's chamber doors. She also sees several clones of Rose rush forward and ensnare fae in flowers, whisking them back through the portal.

 

Tenebrae heads through the portal, before dissolving into the ground. Darkness creeps across the floor, up the walls and across the ceiling. The dead faeries begin to reanimate in a darker form, some having extra limbs burst from their wounds as they begin to float toward Atavul. Even inanimate objects seem to spring to a dark life, any loose rocks gaining eyes and sharp teeth, flowers turning to thorns which try to reach out toward Atavul. Rose feels embraced by a dark power, as if a hand reaching out for her to take should she desire.

Mortius confronts Atavul, holding his scythe ready.

Eve sprints toward the crystal, eyes glowing to allow her to see.

 

Rose declines it.
"I appreciate the offer, but I am not of darkness." She says, drawing some of Atavul's fire towards her.

Atavul smiles.
"Heh... Well, I must admit, I got more than I bargained for. Regardless, you best not disappoint." He says, feeding off any hatred Mortius may hold.

The heat wears on her, but nothing's in her way.
It is extremely heavy, though.

 

The dark power leaves Rose.

Dark hands begin to emerge from the floor and walls, grabbing faeries and bringing them to Rose.


Atavul finds Mortius an emotionless void, Mortius' eyes seeming to stare directly at his soul. Atavul begins to feel a sensation of falling, slipping from power into nothing. However, Atavul's own power remains completely unchanged.


Eve only struggles slightly with the crystal, lifting it above her head before running back toward the location of the portal she entered through.

 

"Why to them? Are they important or something?"

 

"I dunno. I've found it easier to just not try to wrap my head around that stuff."

She redoubles her pace.


Seems his soul isn't quite all here, and this sensation causes Atavul to lash out at Mortius.
Xlentia tries to intercept with a swipe of her own, but winds up getting bashed into the ground before letting loose a jet of hypnofire.

Emerald keeps watch, nodding at Eve as she passes.
"Can you get her into your reality?"

 

A shield of darkness appears between Rose and Atavul to protect her as she rescues the faeries. Some faeries are even brought through the shield to Rose for efficiency.


There's a loud clang as Mortius easily blocks the attack with the blade of his scythe, before spinning and slicing through Atavul. Atavul's body and part-soul are separated. Atavul's body stays alive, but he can't seem to control it without his soul.

Hundreds of dark hands appear under Xlentia to catch her, straining under her weight to stop her from being hurt by the ground.


Eve nods, running towards the library.

 

Mortius finds his scythe blade bent from the blow, and Atavul seems to just smile as his part-soul is extinguished.
“Tired of this so soon?” He growls, releasing torrents of plasma down upon Mortius, Tenebrae, and Xlentia while rearing back and making one more rush at Mortius.

Xlentia flicks her tail, a few tiny daggers deflecting the plasma from her and Tenebrae, though the plasma that hits the ground stings Tenebrae a bit.
She then inhales, darkness concentrating around her mouth.

Emerald opens a portal that makes Eve run straight back through to the Shadow Palace.

 

The plasma simply waves over Mortius, not seeming to affect him as he bends back his scythe blade. Mortius steps, or rather floats, out of the way of Atavul as he rushes.


A few of Tenebrae's hands seem to clench up and disappear as she's hit, Rose's shield weakening slightly.


Eve scans herself over for any life forms or non-living entities within her.

 

Atavul has no problems tracking Mortius, crashing down on him with the heat and force of a hundred stars.


Rose glances up, worried.
“Hang in there, he’s nervous.”

Xlentia throws herself against Atavul, sparing Mortius from getting hit directly at the cost of her armor becoming molten and splashing against the ground.


She wasn’t followed out.

 

Mortius' body is destroyed, Atavul seeming to have defeated him even with Xlentia blocking the hit.


Dark hands begin to wrap around Xlentia, hissing as the molten armour hits them. The hands try their best to keep Xlentia's armour on, mainly the crystals.


Eve runs into the Shadow Palace, putting the crystal in an elevator and teleporting it to the vault. The elevator takes a while to teleport it, but does so in the end.

 

Atavul lands heavily, tired and wounded.
“I’ll... see you... again...” He heaves, slowly crumbing into a massive pile of ash.

“Let go...” Xlentia grumbles, pained. “Armor’s replacable...”

 

"Yeah. Better not think about it too much."

 

Mortius simply emerges from the ground where he was hit, as if rising from the grave. His scythe appears in his hand again, and he pulls his dark hood over his skull again. His scythe still seems rather bent.

The darkness converges from the walls, ceiling and floor near to Xlentia; reanimated faeries falling, living rocks losing their additional features and becoming still and flowers turning back to normal. Tenebrae forms from the darkness.

"He's a rather thoughtless brute." Xlentia hears in her mind, the voice sending chills down her spine.

 

Xlentia nods, pained.
“He decided brute force works for everything if you have enough of it...” She says, an edge to her voice. “Lady Tenebrae, did he hurt you badly?”

Rose removes her veil, going back to her white dress and red bouquet as she searches the rubble for any more survivors, extinguishing rogue cinders as she goes.

“The world’s too big for one person to figure out, if you ask me. Now, a whole bunch of worlds? Don’t even get me started.”

 

Tenebrae checks herself over, various burn marks all over her skin.

"Nothing I cannot heal," Tenebrae says, "I'm more concerned about your armour."

Tenebrae glances at Mortius, who seems to be looking at her. Tenebrae nods after a moment.
