Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Shadow Stephanie tries to follow the sounds, sticking close to the wall.


"N-No, s-sorry." The air guardian says, quickly flying away and leaving the boomerang. Another air guardian flies a little closer,before seeing the other air guardian and Xlentia and flying away too.


"I'm not familiar with them." I admit.

 

They’re coming towards her.


“Wait, you forgot your boomerang!” Xlentia calls, confused.


“Anything goes, all duels are to surrender or death, and any wounds will be undone by the arena reset. No fighting once the reset occurs, and you won’t be able to access sources of power outside the arena once you enter. Understood?” They ask, walking on.

The bartender nods, going back behind the counter.
“You invite yourself here, Outsider?”

“Alright. Perhaps you should come back once she gets here, since her dress definitely isn’t going to fit you.”

 

"Can I fit my suit first or do you want to wait with that aswell?"

 

"No, someone named Mitch invited me for poker. I take it that you know him?"

 

“Check my mannequin to see if it’s similar to your beast form. If not, I’ll come out and fit it again. It’s laying behind the desk, you’re welcome to go back and take a look.”

“Oh, Mitch invited you? Sorry for the hard time. Yeah, he invites someone new every now and then. Says it’s good to try and shove some variety in this ‘boring cycle’ or something.”
“...And a robot, nonetheless.”
“Doubts aside, what’s your name?”

 

"Thirteen. And, you guys?"

 

Bardock goes over to the desk and looks around for this so called mannequin.

 

“Thirteen? Like the number? Uh... Owen.”
“...Al.”
“Percy. Nice to meet you.”

Behind the desk are four large tanks half-filled with water, insanely detailed stone statues floating within.
One of the tanks looks just like you, down to each individual bit of fur, and floating next to it, one that looks like a perfect replica of Anne.

 

"Yeah, like the number. Nice to meet you three."
I smile.

 

"Impressive. Why do you keep them in water, Arga?"

 

“You the thirteenth built or something?”
“Same.”
Percy unboxes a deck.
“Well, should we kill time ‘till Mitch gets back?”

"Yes. And, yeah, let's."

 

“Outta how many?”

The air guardian seems too scared to respond, flying away into the distance quickly.


I check my pockets.

"Understood." I say.

 

"I mean, I don't blame them. No offense, but you are a gorgon."

 

“They run out of funding?”

Two red aces and a six of diamonds is put down on the table.

“Then you know that those are you, right? I took your measurements by turning you to stone.”

The rat returns with a piece of a key.


Xlentia seems disheartened, carefully treading on.


“Well, your foe awaits. Are you ready to be warped in?” They ask, runes glowing on the tips of the guards’ spears.

 

"No, they all died."

 

"Yes. Yuck, still makes me feel gross."

 

“How so? Stonegazing shouldn’t have lasting effects.”

“Nineteen had enough, I take it?”
