He just keeps yelling the same thing over and over.

I end my turn 55 feet in the air, without attacking him.

What roll do I make?

 

Hold.
Make a Strength (Athletics) check.
The target rolls against you, making a Dexterity (Acrobatics) check or a Strength (Athletics) check.
If they roll higher, they are not Grappled. If you roll higher, they are Grappled.
This takes up your action, or one of your attacks (Extra Attack).

19+4(Prof)+5(Str)=28

Btw, since the theif's unconcious, doesn't it automatically succeed?

 

Oh, yeah, if they're unconscious you can just pick them up.

Let's quit combat order enhanced to what you want with the guy and they might have some loot.

 

I keep rising until we’re 100 feet in the air, then I stop.

I put one of my hands over his mouth to quiet/silence him.

 

He licks your hand to get it off.

My hand recoils, and I wipe it on his face before sifting through my bag of holding with one hand.

He grabs it and smacks it into your face, breaking it in to pieces.

I stop holding him from his waist, dropping him, then re-grabbing him by his arms.
