Alright.

Assuming you all go through the portal you end up in Octsville.
You are all standing in a big, stone church. The church has big, stained glass windows, the glass portrais a god who's doing things to help people. You are all standing in front of a stone altar. People are sitting in the wooden benches in the church, mostly humans, but also a few dwarves, gnomes and halflings. Behind the alter stands a man wearing white robes, he's human and has his eyes closed. On the alter lies a Kuo-Toa, a fish person, he is screaming very loudly, his stomache is cut open by the man in the robes. The man in robes starts talking.
???:"This people, is our sacrifice to the lord! Hoping that he will scare away the monstrocity that is the kraken, hoping that it will no longer break our ships so our fishing ships can go out again. To stop the kraken we must stop all its support! And kill the Kuo-Toa!"
Then he realizes you are there and says.
What are you doing in here.

Zarxik:"STEP AWAY FROM The ALTAR"

Hector approaches the altar.
He then looks straight into the eyes of the guy with a white robes and tell him :
"What did fish do to be kill ?"

 

???:"That's none of your business. Now why are there 13 strange people in my church?!"

 

How did he pay attention to hector and not the lloud as hell trifling thats trying to get him away from the altar

 

Because he doesn't care about the fact the fish man is suffering.

It's okay thaumaturgy is just very fun to use in situations like these

He says while stuttering a little bit.

He's obviously feels uncomfortable.
