Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Oh right. The horse body must be heavier."

 

“Nice to meet you, Mitch.”
I hold out my hand for a handshake.
“I’m Thirteen. Name, not age.”

 

“Much. I’m used to one human at a time.”

“What, uncreative creators behind you?”

 

“Names don’t much matter when you’re never supposed to be released.”

 

"Just take your time and we'll continue when you think you're ready."

 

Shadow Stephanie just sighs.


"Uh...so what's the problem?" Praecantatia asks, confused.

Fia watches the pair from a distance, sitting in the grass.


"Just...a little...drained," The fungal guardian says, "It's fine though...not like I can go anywhere but here...if I die."

Xlentia hears a bark nearby, and a medium sized dog with golden fur runs through the muddy swamp, it's underside covered. A human child laughs and runs after him.

"Tyler!" The child says with false annoyance as he quickly wades through the mud after the dog. The dog wags it's tail, jumping about before running further through the swamp when the child gets close.

 

"Look, I know the typical response. It's just what you do. I get that it's habitual, and I'm willing to see the person behind the blood, but all you've done is alienated yourself to onlookers. I don't know how else to say that. If I could be nicer about it, I would, but you seem like the kind of person who hates beating around the bush."


"You're good at magic, right? I was wondering if you could help put me back together. See... I know you can't, but I want to hope. Each half of my body does... weird things. If I don't like it, I can trade them out with other me's. Other me's see other timelines, and then I try and pick the one I like. I can't do much, though... just see everything. And, I want to make sure you know that... I don't wanna die, but I need your daughter and her friends to kill daddy. He's... not okay." She says, only half of her body talking as the other cycles through mangled, bleeding bodies. "I thought that maybe if I asked a different person, one I hadn't seen before, maybe I could be put together."


"...I guess some humans make it here, then?"

"Oh, that makes it even better. Which number was the breaking point?"

He nods, laying down in the mud with a sigh.

 

"Uhm.. Eh, nevermind."

 

"It feels...right though. At least most of the time." Shadow Stephanie says.


"Well, I think Temporus might be better at understanding this, but I think you're just not synced up. You can't be put together with two halves from different timelines, that just doesn't work. You need two of the same to fit," Praecantatia says, thinking, "I...guess maybe I could take your soul and two matching halves of your body, store your soul and try to remove whatever power is causing you to switch timelines. I might need Temporus' help to do that though."


"Huh?" The fungal guardian says, turning around, "Oh, yeah. Gaia grants access here to a few humans if they've done good through their life."

 

“Nineteen killed every worker.”

 

"I'm going to probably get scolded for saying this, but right and wrong are usually opinionated, and the one absolute judge is slanted against us right now... so I'm not going to run down that road, but you get my point."


"But then I'd disappear." Petunia says, frowning. "I can't put myself together when I've taken two halves from the same timeline."


"I guess this one just didn't make it far..."

"...What?"

"Guess they never got all that far, then."

 

"Just.. that you're getting yourself dirty. You're already in the mud, so it doesn't matter anymore."

 

"If it's opinionated, there can't be an 'absolute judge'." Shadow Stephanie says flatly.


"Hmm. What if we were to erase one half from one timeline, and have you switch your other half to that timeline, and do the same with the first half? Two different timelines, but they'd both only have one half." Praecantatia suggests.


"Yeah. Poor kid. At least he gets to live in paradise with his dog though." The fungal guardian says, looking at the boy and his dog. The boy laughs as he lies in the mud, his dog licking his face happily; tail wagging excitedly.

 

"Not until you get all emotions out of the way."


"Then I'm stuck as two things. I guess maybe I should just try and make friends. I don't want to be killed with daddy. Uh... you're part of that group, right?"


"Still... his family must be heartbroken."

"I can wash myself in the ocean."

 

"What?" Shadow Stephanie asks, confused.


"Who's your father?" Praecantatia asks.


"Maybe there will be a reunion in the future." The fungal guardian shrugs.

 

"Fair enough, but still."

 

“Everyone has their own sense of what right and wrong is, but it isn’t neccesarily right or wrong.”


“Exksys. You know him as the Hive Master.”


“I can only hope... though the implications are just as grim.”

“You hate bathing or something?”

 

“You’d be surprised. They were pretty close.”

 

“Close to what?”

 

"What even is? Every action has a consequence." Shadow Stephanie says.


"The...H-Hive master?" Praecantatia asks, shocked, "Uh, right. What happens if two of you from the same timeline try to merge again?"


"Not especially. His parents die of old age, and they wake up here to find their long-dead son and his pet, and they're reunited again at last." The fungal guardian says, coughing up a few spores.
