Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"It doesn't understand the weight or consequences behind it's actions," Shadow Stephanie says, glancing down, "Sometimes...you regret who you kill."


"No problem, Petunia." Praecantatia says happily.


There appears to be an abundance of frogs and leeches, as well as insects like dragonflies and spiders. Fungus grows easily on the trees in the swamp, and an odd looking forest guardian appears to be able to promote it's growth a lot easier than others.

 

"Wait, you what?" Lenka asks, surprised. "Okay, now I feel a lot worse about my prejudice against you."


Pause.
"...How do I get there?"


Xlentia stops at the odd guardian.
"Pardon me, but what are you?"

 

"What? You think we're just emotionless killing machines?" Shadow Stephanie responds, sounding annoyed.


"I could try to bring you here, if you could give me your location." Praecantatia says, teleporting out of her home to one of her outer islands.


The guardian turns around, looking up.

"Hm? Oh, I'm a Fungal Guardian. I help with mushrooms and such instead of trees." The fungal guardian says happily, their hair a darker green with streaks of white in it.

 

“I mean, that’d be news to Idhaenna.”


“Uh... Void Palace, standing in Xlentia’s doorway?”


“What’s mushrooms?”

 

Shadow Stephanie sighs.

"I hate to say this, but that's actually kind of racist." Shadow Stephanie says.


Praecantatia closes her eyes, focusing.

An eye appears just outside the doorway to Xlentia's chambers, looking around as it shares it's sight with Praecantatia.


"They're sort of like the fruit of fungus, if fungus was a tree." The fungal guardian says, picking up a piece of rotted wood and causing red mushrooms with white spots to sprout from it.

 

“It’s sort of self inflicted. You call yourself genocidal demons.”


She sees Petunia in a bubble, sitting around.


“...It’s too small. I can’t see it.”

 

I stop with him.
“Something wrong?”

 

"We don't call ourselves emotionless!" Shadow Stephanie says.


Praecantatia tries to focus on Petunia to teleport her.


The fungal guardian puts the wood in his mouth, climbing up a tree partially sunken into the swamp mud to try and show Xlentia.

 

“Just wondering what’s got you thinking.”

“Homicidal and demon typically depict emotionlessness, if not pure malice.”


It’s easy, but Petunia seems confused.
“U-uh... h-hello?”


Xlentia brings her eye down towards the guardian.

 

“You just seem very accepting to the fact that you just have to die.”

 

"And yet we have a complex monarchy society. How strange." Shadow Stephanie says sarcastically.


Petunia is teleported to one of Praecantatia's grassy islands, Praecantatia changing to her smaller size to greet her.

"Hello." Praecantatia says with a smile.


The fungal guardian holds the mushroom up as high as he can.

 

“We’re called mortals for a reason, no?”

 

“It’s simply unlike people.”

 

“The only people who know that are those you’re friends with. Who else goes in your realm from here?”


Petunia waves, a sheet of metal separating the two halves of her body.
“I was wondering if you could put me back together.”


“...Sorry. It just looks like a little blur.”

He shrugs.
“You get tired of it after a while.”

 

“Guess so.”
Pause.
“How old are you? Hell, what’s your name?”

 

He walks over to him and places a hand on his 'shoulder'. (Do dragons have shoulders?)
"Is it because you had to carry us over?"

 

"I...don't remember," Shadow Stephanie says, "They'd have to have come to the palace or made news for me to know."


"Oh, have you been cursed?" Praecantatia asks.


The fungal guardian thinks for a moment, before putting his hands on the tree he's standing on. Spores begin to fill the air as the tree cracks and splits, before a large mushroom the size of the tree breaks through.

The fungal guardian lets go, now standing on top of a large white capped mushroom. He pants, looking exhausted.

"Is...this any...easier...to see?" The fungal guardian asks between gasps of air.

 

“My point is, if you want a better view of yourselves, maybe don’t kill and threaten everyone, because word of concern spreads about your kin, and you all come off heartless.”


“No, it’s my ability.” She says, rolling her left eye back as both halves of her body look the same.
Temporus notices a distortion in time, though...


“Yes, but are you okay?”

Yes.
“Yeah, I’m too old for passengers...”

Forty, Mitch.”

 

"You did take me and Anne here in the first place."

 

“You’re half the weight of a centaur.”
