Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“Where on this island we going, anyways?”
“My cave isn’t big enough for all of us.” The wyvern comments.
“Seems like an awful small island.”

 

"No...problem." Shadow Stephanie says, pausing as she dodges out the way of a few bullets and kills another bullet-shaped enemy, this one looking more like a soldier.


"So why create false clones?" Praecantatia asks.


"I do. I was wondering if she was going to leave with Katie, but she's sort of become her own attraction now." Gaia says.

 

"There are villages you could stay. The forest is a save place aswell."

 

Lenka shuts down his hologram, a few other occasional noises coming from the other room.


“Why? A second shot. Many people never get the opportunity to live how they’d hoped. To many mortals, it will hardly matter if you’re a robot or not when you can still eat, breathe, reproduce.”
Pause.
“I guess... the answer is really that I don’t want more people like me. I lost four children along with my life. I never got closure. That’s a gift I can give others.”


“Did she fall asleep? Hell, I’ve been trying to get her to do that for ages.”

“What’s in the village?”
“Dibs on forest.”
“Don’t you dare eat my people.” Anne growls.
“Are your people trees?”
“No...”
“Then relax.”

 

"Can we just discuss this when we're out of this area?!"
He continues walking, forcing the party to continue aswell.

 

I look the room over, trying to figure out what they’re coding.

 

Shadow Stephanie continues playing for another half hour, before heading in to the other room.


Praecantatia goes silent for a bit.

"But are they truly living? Or are they robots pretending to be people living how they wanted? Without a shared consciousness, they're not living at all." Praecantatia asks.


"She has, I hope she doesn't mind getting a bit overgrown." Gaia says.

 

It’s not in a syntax you recognize.

“Yeah.”
“Fine...” Anne pouts.

 

I exit and explore more planes.

 

She walks in on a holographic demon hand holding Lenka up, Lenka holding what seems to be a repeating energy bow as he hails fire down on some sort of golem.
He doesn’t notice her enter, jumping off as a meteor hits the hand, Pozel’s left hand turning red.


“As a god, you have a different definition of living.” Stella says.


“Doesn’t matter. Good luck with her.”
Xlentia stirs years later.

Two storage rooms later, you come back into Idhaenna’s chamber, this time with Idhaenna in it.
“You’re back?”

 

Shadow Stephanie twirls her gun, the gun turning back into a sword which she slips on Stephanie's back.


"I understand what it means to be mortal." Praecantatia responds.


Gaia, noticing this, hurries off.

A short while later, Temporus approaches with Gaia. Temporus appears to be dressed in a black suit with a red tie.

"Enjoy your decade nap?" Temporus asks. Gaia removes the heavy plant life around Xlentia's head to allow her to see.

 

Lenka fires a massive arrow from his bow, before everything shuts down.
“Shit, damage reflect!” He growls.
“...Oh, you’re ready?”


“You understand what it means for you. You don’t need to worry about what it means to be able to pass your consciousness on.”


Xlentia responds with a yawn.

 

"No pouting. I'm just trying to get us all out of here safely, and I can't do that if you keep arguing with each other."

 

Shadow Stephanie nods.


Praecantatia seems to get annoyed by this.

"I understand what it means. I just mentioned it. If you preserve consciousness, then they truly are living again." Praecantatia says, seeming to be holding words back.


"I'll make things short. If you want, I can send you back in time so you haven't missed the past few years of your reality and can still have an effect on it. Time passes the same here as it does elsewhere, including your own reality." Temporus says.

 

“Yeah. Apparently...”

 

Anne sighs, keeping quiet.

The forest is now a marsh.

“Well...?”

“Well, you kinda need to pick a class. Any preferences?”


Stella pauses.
“I apologize for irritating you. I haven’t interacted with another god in... ever.”


“Does it have to be now?”

 

"Assassin." Shadow Stephanie says.


"Not even your own?" Praecantatia asks.


"Not especially, but I can't wait around here for another ten years." Temporus says.

 

“Wasn’t all too exciting.”
I say casually, making my way back to the portal.

 

“You interested in melee and crits or ranged trickery?”


“No, Idhaenna is a daily interaction. I meant others.”


“Well, I’m awake now...”

“You want access to the other portals?”

 

"Melee." Shadow Stephanie shrugs.


"Well, your gods act differently. We don't interact with mortals much." Praecantatia says.


"Do you want to go home yet?" Gaia asks.
