Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Are you suggesting it'll last fifty five?"

 

“No! Thirty, now.”
The blond one says as Voidfiller finishes loading.
“A friendly reminder that I’m only paying you if you keep it up for as long as possible.”
“We get it, we’re not morons.”
The dark haired one retorts.
Voidfiller puts a finger to his lips as he turns to the boys and hides the gun behind his back.

 

"Have you considered more reasonable methods?" Keila mumbles.

 

"Magical abilities." Praecantatia says, smiling.

 

“Well, okay, but what sorts of magical abilities? I’m not saying it’s bad, I just don’t see the advantage of using it over tech we have that does the same things.”

 

"Well, sure you could add some kind of flamethrower to your robots, but that would take fuel and extra power. Magic could be used instead without needing extra power or fuel." Praecantatia explains.

 

“To quickly knock someone out? No.”
He turns and shoots the dark-haired one, landing his shot in the boy’s leg. A look of shock runs over both boys’ faces and the dark haired one passes out.
The inferno keeps up, though, and the other boy looks a lot more pressured.
“What the fuck?!”
“You’re doing great!”

 

"And you managed to become less reasonable. Color me impressed." Keila sighs.

"Wait... doesn't magic still need a fuel source, though?"

 

“But it works.”
Voidfiller smiles.
“He’s not even the one who casted the spell.”
He gestures to the boy and the inferno, the former of which has a wave of emotions on his face, none of them good.

 

“That... no.”

 

“What? What’s wrong?”

 

“That’s low, Voidfiller.”

 

“Well, you said you were in a hurry.”
The boy drops to his knee, the inferno dissipating.

 

"I know, I know. It hurts."
He carefully continues.

 

"Magic itself, and it recharges passively within a mage crystal." Praecantatia explains.

 

"Look, it took you five months to get to this point. Either I'm too tired for my own good, or you said it wouldn't take long five months ago."

"But you need magic to use magic, and we don't have much magic."

There isn't too much careful being done; the barbs seem to make every little tug cause the bleeding to get worse., and Sgavrinn seems to be losing color.

 

“I never said that.”
He waggles his finger.

 

"Ugh... Sorry. I just... no need to do that to them." She sighs, rubbing her forehead.

 

“Hey, they’re getting paid for this. And they signed up for it.”
“We didn’t sign up to get shot!”
“You didn’t! And he’s fine.”
“He’s unconscious!”
“Unconscious and fine.”

 

"If you shoot the other, I'm rejecting your work regardless of success." Keila grumbles. "That clear enough for you?"
