Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

An excited, but exhausted man's voice comes through.
"Hey. Heyheyhey."

 

It shows an idle screen until Lenka nears, then it shows a list of crew member names and portraits.
“Pick a person, and you’ll be able to check their vitals and status of their organs. Also, I’ll probably regret asking, but is your daughter as murderous and as cold as she looks, because I don’t really want to leave my family in the dark...”

“...Hello?”

 

"Do ya still need help? Withtha, withtha fuckin' storm thing and gettin' rest?"
A moving image of some grassy ground starts to appear.

 

“...Voidfiller, would you mind?”

 

"Yeh, look, I'm sorry, it's just-"
Voidfiller interrupts himself by coughing loudly and furiously.

 

“Just what?”

 

"I've been workin' on it an' I finally, finally got it."
The image rolls upwards to show a paunched man with a cigar in his mouth grinning wildly has he fumbles through a backpack. The scenery behind him looks to be a sort of grassland with scarce trees.

 

“Can it keep ships from entering?”

 

“It’s allllll awn who ya entrust.”
He says with a cigar stuffed mouth as he pulls out what looks to be two circlets, one with a blue gem at the top and one with a red gem.

 

Stephanie seems a little offended, turning around and looking at Lenka with an intimidating stance.

"Pardon?" Praecantatia asks, tapping a crew member.

Lenka looks at Stephanie for a bit before relaxing.
“...I’m sorry. It’s hard to read someone through the armor you’ve given her. I’m not fond of the prospect of having to serve someone who won’t show me her face. But that? That I don’t mind dying for.”

A hologram of the crew member’s body appears, though most of their body is greyed out.

He shrugs, still trying to stop the bleeding.

“So, you’ve managed to make a magitech system that does what I did... not bad, not bad at all.”

 

"Is something wrong with this person?" Praecantatia asks.

 

Lenka looks over.
“No, they seem to be in perfect health. Why do you ask?”

 

"Differences in interface I suppose." Praecantatia says, tapping another member.

 

“‘ell, sorta.”
He summons a chair and sits in it, setting the image to stably face him, then takes the cigar out of his mouth and holds the circlets up to show Keila.
“There’s a lot of inaccuracies with that statement, and I’ll explain if you have the time.”
He leans inwards, at the edge of his seat.

 

This time, the entire body is greyed out.
“What’re you used to as marks of health? You could call them in to double check, too.”

“First, these,”
He points his cigar towards the circlets.
“are old as hell. I didn’t make ‘em. I’ll spare you the history lesson. Second, calling them magitech is a very large stretch. Third, they don’t... do what you do. You do what you do, they just help with the resting and concentrating part.”

 

"Well, usually grey would imply missing. A spectrum of green to red would show the health of each part." Praecantatia says.

 

"Can I have a look at that, Sgavrinn? It looks bad."
