Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“It’s probably just cultural shit. You guys barely let mortals see you, and we work with our gods. Probably the truth just got intercepted by the zealots who swear that they’d be dead without Idhaenna... which is true, but they’re still batshit.”

 

Praecantatia seems a little surprised by the language being used.

"I-I hope so." Praecantatia says.

 

Pause.
“...I’m sorry, this is my fourth straight shift. I hope you can pardon the outburst.” Lust sighs.

“What if I can’t get back?”

 

"Haven't you been allowed a break?" Praecantatia asks.

 

"Oh yeah, I'm allowed breaks. I haven't taken any, though. Idhaenna gives crazy good benefits if you do crazy stuff and pull it off. Five consecutive shifts yields a year of paid vacation, and that's exactly what I'm shooting for."

 

"Well, try not to overwork yourself." Praecantatia says, worried.

 

"I'll be fine, I've got enough break time for a four hour nap in an hour and a half." Lust winks. "Been wanting to take a cruise to the fringe galaxies. You don't have anything against chasing dreams, do you?"

 

"Not at all. My dream of having a daughter came true." Praecantatia says.

 

"Well, in five and a half hours, mine comes true." Lust smiles.

 

"I hope you manage to get it." Praecantatia says positively.

 

“Worst case scenario, I take the month off for four shifts and go on a shorter cruise.”

 

"Maybe a shorter cruise would be more fun." Praecantatia shrugs.

 

“It’d be nice to be able to visit all my relatives in one go, though I suppose you might be right... Wait, I need to get back to work. Uhm... do you have any more questions, or do I need to get a worker to finish our conversation?”

 

"I'll let you get back to work." Praecantatia says.

 

“Sorry to cut it short. Hope the rest of your visit goes well!” Lust waves before running off, pulling up eight different holograms as she goes.

 

Praecantatia decides to take a blue potion out of her jacket, uncorking it and sipping it lightly as she looks around.

 

There are hundreds of engineers working on the mechs, a few of them moving about slightly to see if their repairs were successful, then they come in and out of the room through some sort of holographic funnel.

 

Praecantatia walks over to the funnel, careful not to step on anyone. Once at the funnel, she leans down to observe it.

 

"Then I don't know. You'll be stuck in the spectral plane probably."

 

It seems to turn the mechs into data, then transfer the data elsewhere.
