Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"It's nice to meet you, Lust." Praecantatia says with a friendly smile.

 

“Well, I suppose I should explain a bit what we do here, though it’s not hard to say. Mech breaks, we take it in, disassemble it, replace any missing or broken parts, throw it back together. You’re free to look over one of my underlings, but don’t get too friendly with them. Can’t reward those who’ve never met a deadline nowadays.”

 

"Do you use these mechs to survive outside?" Praecantatia asks.

 

“Sometimes. Some are for combat, mining, travel, and others are for keeping the occasional starchild company.”

 

"Starchild?" Praecantatia asks.

 

“There are some odd beings that can only live within the heat of a star. They try to wander out if they get lonely, which leads to their death, so we’re trying to keep that from happening.”

 

"Couldn't you create thermal suits for them?" Praecantatia asks.

 

“They need the radiation, the closest thing we can do is keep one in a solar generator.”

 

Praecantatia thinks for a bit.

"What about a suit layered with radioactive material?" Praecantatia suggests.

 

“Not enough.”

 

"Well...I'll have to give this some further thought." Praecantatia says, defeated.

 

“Hey, any ideas help. We might try to send you home with an uplink, if you don’t mind working with us mortals.”

 

"I much prefer working on my own. The serenity of my gardens and workshop allows me to focus." Praecantatia admits.

 

“I mean, that’s alright. We can accomodate but no means no.” Lust shrugs. “We appreciate the contribution nonetheless.”

 

"If I come up with anything, I'll send it over." Praecantatia says.

 

“Do you want us to send you home with a simulated starchild to experiment on?

 

"That might help." Praecantatia says.

 

Lust tosses a small device the size of a tennid ball towards Praecantatia.

 

Praecantatia easily catches it, putting it inside her jacket.

 

“It has data on ten different starchildren. Just toss it into heat to activate it, and it will emulate a starchild down to its personality. If you wind up taking a liking to one in particular, Stella could help you visit them in person.”
