In the News Syria Discussion

I’m no pacifist. Anyone who knows me knows this, I’m obsessed with war, I often dream of what the modern world would look like in war. I’m no hippie either, but going to war with Syria would be a grave mistake. We’re risking another world war here, as Russia (largest nuclear stockpile in the world) and NK are allied with Syria AND China (largest military in the world) and would not hesitate to retaliate if we declared war on Syria. It would be a chain reaction of massive proportions and would most definitely escalate to nuclear war. In my opinion president trump should take no action past his impulsive Twitter feed. What do you all think?

I don’t have much of an opinion since I haven’t researched enough on it. I don’t want Assad or any terrorist organization in power, but of course I don’t want to trigger WWIII.

I believe Trump, once a successful businessman, would be smart enough to realise that problems can also be solved by good economic relations and trade agreements, not by bullets and missiles. If he truly wanted to make his country great again, he is heading in a disastrous direction by drafting his country into war.

 

Although I don’t want WWIII or another Vietnam, I don’t think the US should be passive either. Assad literally kills children with chemical weapons, and there is no resemblance of stability.

The best thing that we could have done was to stop the use of Syrian chemicals in attacks before the attacks were carried out. The problem is, action needs to be taken in order to try and stop a major conflict. While the decision to launch air strikes in Syria was an odd one, if we didn't then Syrian insurgents would have bolstered in confidence and grow bolder and bolder. For a good comparison, hindsight tells us that Hitler could have been eliminated as a threat in 1933 when he remilitarized the Rhineland. So we want to avoid these situations happening again, therefore we have to be tough when countries blatantly break international law.

To be fair Hillary publicly endorsed going to war with Russia. But yeah, he’s a total egomaniac.
