I have a tip for people on blue's party, if you see a main villain at the start who disappears because you're not supposed to fight him, don't run after him, get good rolls and find a solution for everything blue throws at you. You'll be knocked out in one hit and end up in some mysterious alley.

I'm a newb at D&D so can someone explain this high magic and magic items to me?

Like is magic upgraded and what are the types of magic items we can choose/make.

 

There are different kind of spells in DnD.
Class spells:
These spells are different for each class. Depending on the class you choose, you get a specific set of spells/skills that you can use. Can usually only be used once a day or until you take a short/long rest.

Standard spells:
There are spells that multiple classes can master. Most of them can also be cast on a different to increase their power. You can cast a specific number of spells depending on the level of those set spells. (2 lvl 1 spells a day, 2 lvl 2 and 1 lvl 3 spell in one day. This is just an example and not real numbers.)

I don't have the list of spells here. So you should ask @SPYROHAWK. He usually has one.

 

Incorrect.

Class spells are not a thing, although some class features act similarly to what you described.

The Standard Spells part is also different. There are also some spells that only one class has access to (Arms of Hadar, for example). Spell slots also vary depending on the class, and different classes have access to different spells.

For those things I'm glad you're here.
But for the class spells thing, I didn't know the exact name so I just thought of something.

 

We're fairly sure you can all start with 3 uncommon and 1 rare magic item. If you want to see a list of magic items look on the website d&d beyond, pretty sure that has a good list.

 

Yeah but you need to pay to see them all

 

If you look in the right places you can find a pdf of them online that you don’t have to download.

Edit: Those are really long lists. o-o Do you still pay the cost of magic if you cast them with a magic item?

 

No, you just lose a slot when you cast a spell.
You have a specific amount of slots that come with your level.
Spells and magic items aren't connected, atleast not for the most part.

 

My character is very ... Strange.

 

You still have to concentrate on any concentration spells you cast, though.

I find that most new players sort of freeze up the first time it come to their turn in combat, so... this guide should be helpful.
