Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“What about you? I don’t know anything about you.”

 

It starts quietly replaying the conversation between Idhaenna and Shadow Stephanie.

Pozel heads to the door and cracks it open, peeking out.
"Are you okay?"


"Oh, hi. Uh... yes?"

"Just been dead a wh-"
An earth guardian approaches Maqo, and he keeps looking at Crystal despite talking to the guardian.
"Oh, hi. Uh... yes?"

 

The forest guardian looks a little scared at first.

"H-Huh? O-Oh, yes. I'll be fine." The forest guardian says, coughing.


"Do you know where the training rooms would be located?" Alex asks.

 

"You sure?" Pozel asks, worried.



"Right past this door."

 

"Y-Yeah, I'm just not used to this low light." The forest guardian says, stumbling a bit.


"Thanks." Alex says, heading through the door.

 

"I could help get you to wherever you're going if you'd like." Pozel says, glancing at the fae to see if they're fine with him heading out.


The door leads into a massive open room, three main "stations" visible; an armory to the right, rings with people sparring to the left along with training dummies, and a giant coliseum straight ahead.

 

Crystal quizzically drifts and eye around his head to look at the earth guardian, not speaking.

 

After they pass, Maqo blinks at Crystal.
"...Sorry, where was I?"

 

The faeries seem to not notice, watching TV.

"I-If you know this place, that would help." The forest guardian says.


Alex, curious, heads to the giant colosseum.

 

"Give me one second."
Pozel peeks in at the fae.
"I'm going for a walk. I'll be back in a few."


As he approaches, he hears a mass of cheering as a few guards approach him.
"Newcomer, eh? You hear to be part of the spectacle, or just to spectate?"

 

"Stay safe!" Sel says cheerily.


"What's 'the spectacle' exactly? If I joined, would there be a risk of death?" Alex asks.

 

Pozel heads out and closes the door behind him, offering the forest guardian his hand.
"I'd like to apologize in advance for being a cyborg, but that aside, where are you headed?"


"The spectacle is the Chronoseum! Anyone who thinks they've got nobody left to beat in a duel can fight legends of the past, and every fight is to the death. However, the arena resets time to just before every duel, so there's absolutely no danger of actually dying."

 

He rotates his eye back.
“You were dead for a while.”

 

"No, he eats flowers. So you should be fine."

He walks off.
"Unless.."

 

"Oh, right. I was the last of my family to go, but I was a bit attached to the family garden. I remained as a spirit to keep it going, and was fortunate enough to have a dryad be the next person to own the family house."

"...Unless what?"

 

“How’d you die?”
He asks, interested.

 

"Sorta unfortunate. I worked as a firefighter, and wound up getting burnt to death trying to control a burn started by an arsonist."

 

"T-The palace to see my brother, but I got lost along the way." The forest guardian says weakly.


"I think I'll just spectate." Alex says.

 

“Oh. How’d you wind up here?”

 

"Alright, I can bring you there." Pozel says, offering a hand.


"Suit yourself. We're just about ready for the next fight."

"Books. I never got to learn to read until after I died."
