Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

He walks over to Sgavrinn.
"How do I turn this on?"

 

“Do you look up to him as a father, then?”

“He wound up finding three fae who let him stay in their home, however, they have a budget of nine gold a month for everything and are trying to save enough to speak with you and the king. He was wondering if by any chance you could grace them with your presence. Of course, if your time is money, you are well aware of how much I can compensate you.”


“Well, I already have three bunks, one for each tank and me.”

“I’ll get it.” The ferret says, running off again.

A minute later, water comes out of the hose at a decent pace, splashing Sgavrinn in the face. He jumps up quickly and doesn’t seem amused.

 

"It's not likely to happen. If I went to visit every person with a sob story then people would take my generosity for granted, and think they could just ask for anything from me." Shadow Stephanie says.


"Are you working here?" Alex asks.

 

“Well, if nothing else, would you consider at least making the city a safer place to be a fae? Everyone trying to capture you for one reason or another doesn’t really help a job search.”


“Yes, librarian’s assistant. Only reason Emerald let me get away with having three bunks.”

 

"I have laws against the capturing and trading of faeries, though I don't see what else I can do." Shadow Stephanie says.


"What's that like?" Alex asks.

 

"Whoops, sorry about that."

He pulls the hose away from Sgavrinn's face.
"Open up."

 

“Yeah. I mean, I don’t know what that’s like, so I’m guessing it’s kinda like this.”

 

“You may want to look into those laws. They seem to be so effective that the fae don’t know they exist and just live in constant fear.”


“It’s a lot of climbing stairs to check for expired runes.”

Maqo nods.
“Sorry for giving you a hard time, then. I just... nobody in the audience has ever shown that much emotion.”

He moans before opening his mouth.

 

"What do you mean?" Shadow Stephanie asks.


"That seems awfully inefficient." Alex says.

 

"If you're not thirsty, you can close your mouth. You'll get drenched though."

 

“It’s alright. This whole colosseum thing is new to me as well.”

 

"I don't think those laws are noticeable to your fae citizens."


"Well, when your library is fully automated by magic and the head librarian does more work than everyone in the palace combined, menial tasks go to someone."

He doesn't respond, continuing to drink before stepping back from the hose after a minute.

"It's like one big glorified bubble arena." Maqo nods.

 

"Hm, well I'll make they're known." Shadow Stephanie says.


"So you're just at the bottom of the list?" Alex asks.

 

“Yeah! It’s really cool!”
He beams.

 

"Can't swallow it all in one go, can ya?"
He himself drinks some from the hose.

 

“I’ll make the move worth your while. All benefit from a safe city, so expect a small reward to compensate your time to hear me, and by relation him, out.”


“I’d rather run up and down stairs than do anything with artifacts that have killed everyone that’ve handled them.”

The hose water is frigid, but refreshing, Sgavrinn eventually leaning towards the hose again.

“Let me tell you, it’s a lot less daunting on the outside than the inside. With that many people watching... sometimes it’s hard to focus on the fight.”

 

"Time for round two?"
He sprays the water in Sgavrinn's direction.

 

"Hm, alright." Shadow Stephanie says, convinced.


"That seems suicidal. Are they paid well for it?" Alex asks.

 

"And you're not exactly trying to avoid getting hit on the outside, so that's believable."

 

He takes another fairly long drink before stepping back again, looking like he has a headache.

Pozel peeks out of Gil's room, a bit nervous.
"Hey, it didn't quite work out. Sorry." He calls.


The dryad just bows, looking behind Alex.
"I don't get paid at all." Emerald says, telekinetically writing in ten books at once.

"That too, but that's just the nature of any arena."
