Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

There’s one just to the left of the training room entrance, Maqo sitting under it.

The ferret runs off without another word.

“Our gods are far more open than yours, it seems. Perhaps you’d like to visit our goddess of darkness sometime?”


Ihra heads off towards the bunk room, Rineth walking out and deciding to hold the door for the two.
“Hey, is the job going okay?” Ihra asks.
“Yes, it’s coming along. Who’s your new friend?”
“Oh, Alex, this is my caretaker, Rineth.”
“It’s nice to meet you. Few bother visiting us in these rough times.” He bows.

 

"Are you that thirsty? Well, you are a big creature to feed to begin with."

 

He nods, panting.

 

"Uh..." Gil says, unsure.


Alex bows too.

"It's very nice to meet you. You might be glad to hear that I saved Ihra from a group of human thugs who tried to cut her up to sell her organs." Alex says.

 

"So I just hope that you are taken good care of. You'll probably get lots of sweets aswell."

 

“...Like, head outside and go visit a god. That open.”


“Oh, I appreciate it. You should have a little more faith in her, though.” He says.

He perks up a bit at the mention of sweets.

 

"That's extremely open." Gil says, surprised.


"I understand, though I fear she may have lost her teeth and horns at least had I not stepped in." Alex says.

 

“Hey!”
He says cheerfully, jogging his way over.

 

"She's more open than others, mostly because a bunch of people just naturally fear her from the way she looks. It's sort of sad how lonely she is, considering she's kept practically locked in her chambers."


"Reasonable fear, but she can control her staff despite the presence of nullmagic, so anyone in the room would've just wound up asleep."
"I appreciate it, though. It's weird looking at myself."

Maqo looks up wearily before seeming to wake up a bit.
"Hello. Are, uh... you okay? You were freaking out during my fight."

 

“Yeah! I’m good. Everything’s fine now, so it’s fine.”

 

"What does she look like?" Gil asks.


"Looking at yourself?" Alex asks.

 

"Was something wrong during the fight? If it wasn't fair, I'll go again." Maqo says, worried.

Pozel takes out his hololens and holds it out in front of Gil, a hologram of a giant dragon visible.
"Xlentia, high goddess of darkness, destruction, and decay."


"It's like being out of your body, then looking at your body. It's weird. Some people do it a lot more than I do."

 

Gil looks rather intimidated.


"Like disassociating your soul from your body?" Alex asks.

 

“You can imagine not many people bother visiting her.”


“Yeah. Part of me’s in the staff, so I can leave at a whim. I know a few people who can manage eight bodies at once, and one who’s her own workforce. Sort of crazy how people can keep track of that many things at once.”

 

"Yeah...she could easily crush me." Gil says, scared.


"I've heard of water guardians tapping into some deep psychic abilities to control multiple versions of themself, though those are mostly just tales." Alex says.

 

“She could easily crush anybody, but she moves slowly and she’s careful not to step on anyone. If she wasn’t, her palace probably wouldn’t house as many thousands of people as it does.”


“I don’t mean a golem-type thing. I mean multiple living bodies. It’s weird.”

 

"Would she even be able to see us faeries?" Gil asks.


"Yeah, that'd be hard to keep track of." Alex says.

 

"Nah, it's just... it's a fight, ya know?"
He shrugs.
"Fights can be scary, and that's all."
Crystal fibs obviously.

 

"No, no, I don't have any."

 

"Yeah, her eyesight is good."


"I mean, one seems like a lot of work sometimes." Ihra laughs.

He lays his head down again, a bit disappointed.

"...Do you always lie to strangers?" Maqo asks, worried.
