«rp» Fate's Eye [7/7] ~arc 3~

Opening her eyes, Roswaal saw that she was alone in another corridor she had not seen before. Patting the dust away from her clothes, the magic caster stood up.

"Soooo, it happened. Just as expected." She said, stretching her body thoroughly. She remembered the scene right before the unknown effects of an enemy ability took place, while she was pretending being unconscious and slowing her breathing and heartbeat with wind magic.

"So that was this generation's «Greed», hmm~? It disgusts me that everything had stooped so low.........of course, Teacher was much greater."

"Rikuld Mammon Kavenhaitos...." Roswaal smiled evilly to herself. "A ridiculously easy opponent. But what's the fun in killing him myself, hm?"

Roswaal took light steps forward, showing no damage from the previous battle with the Cardinal Sin.

"However.... that doctor. He's something I have to watch out for, I see."

She suddenly stopped in her tracks; she muttered incantations under her breath quickly and quietly. She narrowed her eyes.

"You're nearby, aren't you? It's time I truly destroyed you.......... Sphinx."

Guys I'm so sorry I can't finish this reply. I'm midway through writing and I don't want one group to go ahead before another. I'm taking forever on choosing the combinations of different characters with each other to balance them both strength-wise and story-wise. I swear, the last time I did it took forever as well.

I'll be continuing tomorrow I have to sleep now.

When Archibaud came to himself, he found himself in a different environment from before. It was still underground, he could tell, but the walls were now natural stone; he was in a natural cave.

"....Iza." He muttered, and Izanami materialised besides him. She shook her head. "I can't sense a thing. The spell that's preventing it seems closer, though."

"......Scythe?" A voice said from behind them. Turning, Archibaud saw a familiar figure. With short blonde hair and wearing the Royal Knight's uniform, she was standing a few meters away from them.

"....Knight Carol." Archibaud said, remembering her from the Royal Castle.

"You were teleported here as well?" Carol asked, stepping forward. She was full of cuts, and seemed extremely worn out.

"Hmmmm. What a coincidence, don't you think~?"

All of them turned to the direction of the voice; standing there was Roswaal. She seemed to have gone through a battle of sorts as her clothes were dirtied and her mantle was ripped.

Their brains couldn't process the sudden drastic change in their environment for a few seconds.

When Rathius came to himself, he felt immense pressure from all around him.

What....?

His sight was blurry and dark; his eyes hurt as they opened.

"....Hngh!!"

As soon as he opened his mouth, water poured into his lungs and made him gag. The harder he gagged, the more water poured into him and it became harder to breath.

He could barely make out the other four figures in the same situation— Knight Diabel, Alice, an old hunter and a young elf girl.

All five of them—were chained at the bottom of a river.

"James. Angela." Kayde said as he walked forward to meet the two other figures who was standing in the same corridor.

".....What just happened?" Angela said, gripping her fists together. "I was with Lady Alice and an ability user we beat..... Where are we?"

"It seems like we're at a completely different place.... but we're still underground." James said, turning to Kayde.

Kayde nodded. "Yes. We're still underground; meaning we're still trapped under the Eight Fingers' grasp.... and now we have no clue how to escape. We're in a worse situation than it's apparent."

The boy looked around, narrowing his eyes. "There," He pointed at a direction. "We go this way."

"....How do you know?" Angela asked, frowning.

"I just felt like it..... intuition? Something is going to happen there.... better or worse." Kayde said, rubbing his left eye.

 

(Chained how? Like, all around or just feet chained to a block of concrete or something?)

He closes his mouth, letting no more water in. He tries to lift his arms.

 

"Should we worry about it?" I ask the knight
Turning my head to the yeti then back to the knight, I say
"I surely am worried"

 

Panicking, Marcus tried ascending to the best of his ability.

 

"So why are we are here and what happend to the others?"

 

"Something is better then nothing."

 

I'm sorry I haven't been replying for past few days. Been busy. Also what I've written for three of you just got erased so..... I guess I do this all over again.

Roswaal shrugged. "If you do not know, why do you think I would know? I infer that this is an enemy ability attack, one that teleports certain targets around. There are certainly restrictions and/or cooldowns for this ability, otherwise we would've been dead already."

Izanami appeared next to Archibaud. "Margrave. I sense powerful spells being cast nearby. Maybe, this is....."

"Undead King's Sacrament. Yes." Roswaal nodded, confirming.

"Then if we kill the caster, we can....." Carol's eyes lit up with hope. But.....

"I am ceeertain that the magic caster nearby is the mastermind behind this attack. If we manage to beat her, the rest will become much eeeaasier. However, this opponent will noooot be something we would be able to beat easily."

".....Even with this fighting power, with myself as a Royal Knight, you as the Kingdom's Top Sorcerer, and with Scythe Archibaud?"

"I fear sooo. Because the opponent is....."

"....Sphinx, right?" Archibaud guessed; though he was almost certain he was right. The Witch Sphinx: one of the three Executives of the Demi-Human Army in the Demi-Human War: in which the previous Scythe fought in. By the use of the forbidden spell of reanimating corpses, the witch created devastating damage to the Kingdom.

Roswaal nodded grimly. "Indeed, yes. Sphinx is the one behind this attack."

"But she was defeated by your....." Carol started, doubt in her expression.

"My ancestor from two generations ago, Roswaal K. Mathers, failed to finish her." The noble said with a dark expression. "Because I—ahem, my ancestor failed to kill Sphinx, it is subsequently my responsibility to finish the job."

Chained in legs and arms.



Diabel's eyesight was dimming. Desperately, he called within himself to the contract with his six quasi-spirits(second rank spirits, one above lesser spirits and two below Great Spirits).

Light floated out from Diabel— he willed the spirits to shoot amongst the five of them and cutting their chains. Suddenly free, the five of them swam up quickly for air.

Diabel surfaced out of the water; and immediately scanned the area. His refined observation from being a Royal Knight made him see instantly that they were in a river; and also the four other heads in its water body.

He recognised the King Candidate Alice and the weredragon Rathius; there was a young and thin blond elf girl, and a older-looking man wearing a thick animal pelt.

"....! Aro! Kua!"

His two beloved spirits, wind Aro and water Kua shot out from his palm and shot into the air— and in the next second, all five of them were thrown out of the water and at the grassy river bank.

Coughing, Diabel struggled to get rid of the water that went inside his body. Looking up, he saw that they were still in the Royal Capital— as he could see the castle in the distance. But why was it so dark?

Then he saw the small figure watching from up the bank, their large red-coloured eyes widened curiously. It was a young girl with short blonde hair, dressed in ragged clothing revealing her arms, legs and belly, fit perfectly for moving around. The knight realised— that they were in the north side of the capital— where the people called, the slums.

 

Marcus coughed to get water out, then check for any items he had on him.

 

"This may sound worrying, but I have faith in my intuitions. They've.... saved me on multiple occasions." Kayde said.

Angela remembered the young knight in the battle against «Lust» Bellatrix. She had thought that he showed unusually high reaction speed, but now she understood what it was.

"It's better than nothing, I agree." Angela shrugged at Jame's words.

"And better than splitting up too." said James.

Kayde nodded, activating his shield. "I'll go in front. The two of you, please watch our backs and support me in case of battle."

Their footsteps echoed in the underground tunnel which was lit very dimly by torches. They had encountered nobody for nearly five minutes.

"You sure this was the right way?" James asked.

"..... ..... .....shh."

Kayde lifted a hand, and Angela and James instantly went on alert. James producing weapons out of ice made sounds, so Angela quietly drew her bow.

Clicks of boots against the stone floor. Kayde crouched, peering from behind his shield.

"....?" As soon as the figure came into light, Kayde widened his eyes in recognition, then doubt.

The other two had recognised the figure as well: the bandit ability user who had stolen the insignia from Alice. But something was strange; he didn't seem to be taking care of the three, and kept on limping forward with an empty expression. He was holding a body in his arms, from which blood splattered onto the ground constantly. Seeing, they saw that his black clothes were actually drenched in a dark liquid—blood.

He was holding his partner, the slime-like ability user, who was covered with multiple holes all over her body, all of which poured out blood.

Marcus sighed in relief or exasperation, he did not know. He had retained his pelt and dagger; although, all of his weapons, like his swords and bow, were still gone.

 

He reached for his back, checking if the thrown weapons were still in his pelt.

 

They were, indeed, there. He sighed in relief.
