Hey! Welcome back to another HIT thread! Today we're looking at what over 31 of you voted for last time, that's right, we're explaining

    Detlas Item Sorting

    Let's get started!

    Key:
    - Red: Item Path
    - Green: Emerald Path

So we're continuing off the Previous Thread, where we saw that Items that go in the bin go off to some faraway place. Well, they go here! There's a huge sorting system under the Detlas Item buyer, and the whole thing looks something like this:

So, the Item Buyer takes the item, and drops it through a hopper chute at their feet:

That's pretty simple, but now it gets interesting.

Before I talk about that machine underneath the hoppers, I want to draw your attention to Mythics. Now, Mythics, as most of you know, are powerful items that can cause mass destruction if in the wrong hands. Because of this threat, Clause 89 of"The Document of Wynn Laws" stats that "All Mythical Items (Mythicus Embodienteth) belonging to Wynn towns must be kept in a holding cells made of blocks with B-3 hardness rating or higher, and kept apart from other items". Essentially, this means that Mythic's can not be stored with other items, or in cells made of anything softer than obsidian. Detlas, being a rich trading town, made their Mythic storage out of bedrock.

So that thing that looks like a enchantment table with purple particles
is not an enchantment table with purple particles. It is, in fact, an ancient Gavellian orb used to find materials used to make Mythical Items, forged with a Corkian microchip, encased in the purest Fruman steel. Only three of these were ever made, due to their power. One is located in Detlas, another in the most secure of Guild Hall's underground vaults. No-one's quite sure where the other one is, though it's suspected to be somewhere in Lab N. This theory was partially-confirmed when an adventurer looking for scientific contraptions saw a purple light shining round a corner. Upon trying to pass, she was thrown back against a wall, and had to crawl out of the Lab with a broken leg and splintered collarbone. No similar sightings have ever been recorded.

Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. Basically, they can
detect mythics. Detlas, realising the power of what they possessed, hid it in plain sight; using it in item sorting. It sorts Mythics from other items, and launches them right and left respectively.

Normal items are put into a vault made of hybrid Llevigarian quartz and Corkian brick, a strong substance classed as C-3 hardness. Mythics travel into a bedrock holding cell, and both are locked with a trapdoor made of Thanos's hardest iron (B-2).

Now it gets good. Items passing into these vaults are scanned by an invisible laser. This laser records their data, saves it in the variable "IData", and sends it off to a command block (Corkus, in an effort to be recognised as a Province, sent Wynn and Gavel hundreds of these to be used at will. It didn't work).

    [IMG] [IMG]

Now, the command inside the command block might be confusing, but I'll walk you
    through it:

    "From corkus$"

Think of "corkus$" as a folder, and we want to get something from that folder.

    "Import wynnDetlasIB$$$"

So from "corkus$" we take the program "wynnDetlasIB$$$". Now we need to decide what to do with it.

    "And execute here"

So we execute "wynnDetlasIB$$$" at "~ ~ ~" For those who don't know MC command blocking, "~ ~ ~" just means "here" So "wynnDetlasIB$$$" has been run at the command block.

    "Using IData"

This means that "IData" is the extra variable (Remember IData was the item that was sold) . This is only used if the program asks for some external data (it does)

Now, the actual program uses Corkus's HUGE database to find average prices for items. It uses "IData" as a search term, then turns the average price into a number used to release emeralds.

However, these emeralds aren't normal emeralds. They're compacted emeralds, which makes them easier to store

So along these emeralds go down this chute, which leads to the Item Buyer's feet.

I'm 75% sure that this next process happens at the grey ring, but since that emerald block chute is incredibly strong (A-2), it's almost impossible to be sure. Because the emeralds are compressed, they need to be "Blown Up", per say. So that emerald block turns into an airlock. The chutes above and below shut off, and oxygen is pumped into the block that contains the emeralds. This oxygen leaks into the inside of the emeralds through many pores, and the emeralds expand, closing up the pores.

So now we've got normal emeralds heading to the item buyer. However, the machinery is unable to send the emeralds up in a precise enough way to pop them into the hands, so they aim at the general direction of the IB, and shoot the emeralds there, resulting in a huge ”explosion” of emeralds around the IB, wich it then collects and gives to the seller. (Courtesy of @Nuggets)

And that's it! That's exactly how Item Buyers work. Of course, all this happens in the blink of eye, but it does all happen.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this episode of HIT, and remember to vote on the poll to see what I'm going to explain within Detlas next! I realise this episode was a bit more complicated (and more wall-of-texty) than the last, but I tried my best to make it easy to follow. Leave any questions and/or feedback in the comments, and I'll try my best to answer.

So for all you peeps who are like "where do the items from the banks come in and shit? Well,
    [IMG]
The items just go into the vaults, and the Item Buyers just put the money that comes out back in.
    Bye!

List of hardness for reference (these are just examples, not all blocks within that hardness rating):
    - D-3: Water, Milk, etc.
    - D-2: Lava
    - D-1: Most blocks in their molten form (molten glass, molten quartz, etc. Includes Liquid emeralds)

    - C-3: Grass, dirt, etc
    - C-2: Coarse dirt, podzol etc
    - C-1: Most wood (except Oaken Rock, that's a wood-metal hybrid and is B-1)

    - B-3: Altered and/or weak stones (cobblestone, chalk etc)
    - B-2: Most normal stones (stone, granite, andesite
    - B-1 For some reason, most hybrid materials (no matter what they're made of) end up here. SOme examples: Oaken Rock, Diorite (chalk/granite hybrid), Aldorei Bitterglass (a hybrid of a hybrid; glass is bathed in liquid emerald then embedded with Aldoreian gems, and more.

    - A-3: Darkiron, chiseled emerald, frozen rock, Fruman Steel
    - A-2: Mainly hardened versions of A-3s, such as Interlocked Darkiron, pure emerald, frozen lava
    - A-1, Rumored, but never seen or tested. A popular theory is that incredibly powerful beings have at least one A-1 body part, which gives them their power. Examples; Ozoth's teeth, Qira's armor, Corrupter of World's mask, Death's Scythe

I think you got a mistake in the thread. It says the emeralds pop into the IB’s hands, however, in my own private invetigations, i have found out that it is not the case. The machinery is unable to send the emeralds up in a precise enough way to pop them into the hands, so they aim at the genral direction of the IB, and shoot the emeralds there, resulting in a huge ”explosion” of emeralds around the IB, wich it then collects and gives to the seller.

I'm suprised thanos uses iron and not something like Darkiron or Darksteel. Very cool and good thread.

Darkiron can only be forged by combining Rodoroc stone and Thanos Iron in Mt. Wynn. Due to the numerous natural impracticalities of forging it, Darkiron is only used when Gavellian King's decide unanimously on it. As you could predict, they wouldn't want to risk many lives just so Detlas can use it in a sorting system

I see your point. However, with the advent of Corkian technology came Darksteel, an incredibly tough (B-5) material possible to produce within any sufficiently hot environment. I can very well create a thread explaining the Darksteel miracle and why it is so incredibly useful for technology, if you so desire.

Perhaps we should discuss Darksteel in a PM before creating a thread. I would be delighted to compare our knowledge

If Darkiron has a rating of B-5, and the emerald block chute has a rating of A-2, what material(s) would have a rating of A-1?

Also, rotten wood from dark/kander forest is rotting and can be easily destoyed even by a mere punch, and is thus classified as C-2. Organic flesh is also classified as C-2, unless it is a hybrid material, in wich case it is classified as B-1
