Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Mind if I come in again? I'm curious to what your computer can do."


"Not at all, don't mess with my stuff in the living room. You have a preference, or should I surprise you?" She asks, twisting two wires together.

 

"Sure, come in." Gil says happily, flying into his room and leaving the door open.


"Surprise me, just make sure it's hot. I don't like ice tea." Abigail says.

 

Pozel smiles, closing the door behind him as he enters.


"Of course. Am I usually that bad of a hostess?" She asks, heading into the living room and leaving the parasol next to a white crystal and a lens before heading into the kitchen.

 

Gil seems to have a rather large monitor in his room, though due to this it makes his keyboard and mouse look even smaller than they already are; scaled down to his smaller hand size. A powerful looking computer hums away beside his desk, it's power button creating a red light.


"No, but some people don't realise that a fire guardian doesn't exactly have the best reaction to ice." Abigail says, following Alice into the living room and sitting down.

 

To Pozel, it looks like a dinosaur, but he doesn't bring that up.
He stands off to the side quietly, watching the monitor.


"I've been living here long enough that I'd hope I'm not that stupid. Wouldn't be the first time I'd been surprised, though."
She comes out with a mug of tea, except it's glowing slightly as if it's molten.
"This'll probably do. It's an experimental blend, so let me know if you're not a fan."

 

“That works.”
Voidfiller quickly backs up, taking a syringe out of his pack and stabbing it in his leg.

 

Gil brings up a window that seems generate a a few graphs in each quadrant of the window.

"These are my computer's stats." Gil says happily.


"Thanks. Do you mind if I ask you something...personal?" Abigail asks, sipping the tea.

 

Pozel looks through them, looking a bit nervous as he instinctually reaches for his mask.


“Nope. Shoot.” She says, sitting down and tying the crystal in with the wiring on her parasol.

The tea tastes slightly metallic, but an overpowering raspberry flavor stands out. The tea almost tastes like drinking straight raspberry juice.

The spirit lets an arm become disembodied before it swings wide, just to get Voidfiller to react.

 

Voidfiller just continues to back up, and throws the syringe at the spirit.
It’s a pretty weak throw.

 

There seems to be a graph for the CPU's power allocation, RAM Usage, Maginet speed and what seems to be a graph for tracking errors generated by applications.


"Well, you collect a ton of information on people like some weird stalker detective, so I was just wondering if you had anything on me while I was...dead." Abigail asks.

 

He looks at the RAM.


“No, I didn’t bother. I had other problems.”

The spirit lets the syringe phase through them before lunging with a jab and swings the second blade behind Voidfiller.

 

Voidfiller slinks downwards and between Maqo’s legs, rising up on the other side seemingly a lot more ready.

 

There seems to be a max of 16 Gigabytes of RAM available, though around 9 Gigabytes seem to be in use.


"Oh..." Abigail says, sounding a bit down as she sips some more tea.

 

"If you don't mind taking it slow, then I would like to visit the park first."

 

“How do you get by with 16 gigs?”


“You missed the Shadow Palace getting cleaned out and Aj bleeding out on my porch.”

Maqo thrusts his blade through his chest, grazing Voidfiller.

“Why slow?”

 

"It's enough for most applications on my computer, and I can't really afford more," Gil says, pulling out a drawer under his desk and taking a broken looking stick of RAM, "It's hard to find good ones in the trash too."


"Jesus, what stupid thing did he get into to start bleeding out?" Abigail asks.

 

“Hm. Maybe we can increase efficiency of programs at home.”


“Mimics ran the detective agency and he didn’t listen to me complaining until we lost about half the city, probably more. He needed Eve and Tenebrae’s blessing along with absorbing half my strength to pull things off.”

 

"It's just a matter of knowing where to allocate your RAM and such." Gil shrugs.


Abigail snorts a bit, almost spilling her tea.

"I knew he was bullshitting all the things he said he could do." Abigail says happily.

 

“I mean, I mean, yeah, but it seems like a tiny number. Just... different from what I’m used to.”


“Don’t be so thrilled. About every other household was emptied, if not more. Total massacre. Anyhow, that’s why I’m weaponizing some of my parasols. I lost faith in the guards, so I’m arming myself with light armaments and magic amplifiers.”

 

"I can understand that, a while ago having a gigabyte on something twice the size of my computer was unheard of." Gil says.


"Well, I haven't been assaulted by anyone nor heard of any break ins during the time I've spent at the palace, so they're clearly doing something right." Abigail shrugs.
