A Modern Day Fantasy Rp [6/10]

I grab said light dagger, conceal it in an egregiously large pocket, and sit in front of my halberd until I've meditated enough to discover my true self, regain my memories, the eleven-tails secretly sealed inside me, how to de-summon that halberd, reached nirvana, and learned how to call-forth my persona.

I mean, I might only succeed in one of those if in any, but hey magic is real I can't really be that skeptic at this point.
I'm not willing to risk there not being some kind of glamor obscuring the eyes of muggles.

“Role”: Mercenary hired by SIRIUS to investigate NIBIRU and LEON on the down-low.

Class: Shardaic Mage, especially skilled at Invisibility.

Equipment / Belongings: Generic spy equipment. Carries a handgun for emergencies.

Clothing: Various casual outfits for blending in. Partial to long coats.

Backstory: Ludvig was originally German-born, though he now works primarily in New York. He manifested talents for shard magic at some young age, and was trained by several freelance mentors over the course of his young-adulthood. He was approached by the M.S.A.A. but turned them down, which led to a somewhat messy confrontation that he doesn't much like to recount. He works primarily alone, doing mercenary work for most anyone willing to pay, and has become quite skilled at what he does. Recently, SIRIUS has approached him again, because they're suspicious of the behavior of two other orders, but can't overtly investigate them. Ludvig provides them a convenient way of subverting the rules.

(This is intentionally minimalist. I find it easier to develop a character as I go along. Also, I'm strapped for ideas right now.)

Money / Income: Supports himself though mercenary work, mostly investigative in nature. He's not above 'messier' jobs, though.

Intentionally somewhat bland, because I'm too worn out to try and force myself to develop a complex character. I find it better to develop a character as I go along, anyway.

As you're sitting in the cafeteria in Order SIRIUS doing absolutely nothing, a man suddenly appears out of nowhere at the entrance / exit of the cafeteria. It's Mr. Clint, a Shardaic Mage who was literally told only 5 minutes ago to deal with a situation on Lexington Avenue. He had a disgusted look on his face. He then notices you and walks up to you. "Err, can you deal with the alarm on Lexington Street?" his expression said that he really didn't like what he heard a couple minutes ago. "Your target," he coughs, "is a teenager with a halberd," he coughs again, "in an antique store," Mr. Clint starts coughing and messaging his throat. "Just uh, watch the kid . . . Ask Mr. Lopez to teleport you," he coughs once again, "over to the shop. He's in the training room." Mr. Clint points at the only entrance / exit to the cafeteria. He then mutters mostly to himself, "I think I'm going to puke," before running off in the direction of the restrooms.

You successfully become a lunatic.

You miraculously somehow desummon your halberd. Good luck on resummoning it. What do you plan on doing now?

After Order SIRIUS hired you to spy on the other two Orders, they told you to come to a meeting the day after! A little bird told you to meet Dr. Lakrow at the North End of the Manhattan Bridge. You're on your way but you can't help but notice the people and buildings around you, especially one person, in particular, having a black cloak on and looking out of the ordinary. What do you do?

 

Hmm...

As I walk, I take a pen and a small notebook from my jacket pockets and quickly write down a description of the strange cloaked man. Then, I wait until his attention isn't on me, and snap a picture of him.

 

I start walking over to the training room.

Something a teenager caused? Couldn't be that bad...

Opening the doors, I walk over to Mr. Lopez, making sure to give the two fighting a wide berth. I tell Mr.Lopez that Mr. Clint wants him to teleport me over to Lexington Street, to deal with the alarm.

 

Niko: Alright, you've definitely improved here. At least you have the sense to back off when the situation calls for it. Though, not all weapon masters are simple close combat fighters. For instance, some can do... this!

He then throws the mannequin arm at Jacob, as if the arm was a javelin.

 

Get out of here and sleep on this. Besides, I have a knife. Also maybe the chance to get really strong laterverntually, which I do hope pans out.

Isaac quickly leaves for the street, aiming to get lost in the closest crowd.
He'd made sure not to leave murder evidence and make it look like they'd accidentally impaled themselves on their weapons. Hopefully, it worked.

 

I wait for anyone thats in the store to leave and then close the shop for today
"I'm one step closer bow" I think to myself as I sign the paper and then say my name

 

All of this seemed to be way too easy to do without catching this person’s attention. There had to be a catch, but what is it? You're on street Bowery about to reach the exact destination 1BY Collision which is at the end of the Manhattan Bridge and where the little bird said to meet Dr. Lakrow. Suddenly, the man turns around and enters the Bank of America Financial Center with 2 other similar cloaked figures. What do you do?

You walk around in the crowds for a while and after a certain amount of time, you believe that no one is on your case yet. But after turning onto E 35th Street which for some odd reason is cleared out today, you are proven to be wrong. An arrow flies by your head and a small figure in a silver cloak stands up ahead of you holding what looked like a regular recurve wood bow. Judging from their demeanor, it was an obvious warning shot to surrender.

It's actually Lexington Avenue, my bad.

"Huh? I thought he was going to deal with that situation? Must've gotten lazy. Heh, can't blame him for what happened a couple months ago. He took a major break." He says this as he summons a dark orange shard. "Lexington Street you say? You mean Lexington Avenue? Oh well, nevermind, let's go." But literally, as you are about to teleport away from the training room, a blaring alarm goes off interrupting Mr. Lopez's concentration and the intercom crackles to life.

As the mannequin arm flies through the air sailing at Jacob, before he even has time to react, a blaring alarm sounds and the intercom crackles to life. Jacob barely sidesteps/blocks the mannequin as for the alarm threw him off and he wasn't expecting the move in the first place.

The scenery changes from a shady jewelry shop to a highly advanced base. But after only 2 seconds of being in the complex, a blaring alarm goes off and the intercom crackles to life.

"Criminal Escapee on Sector 2-4! I repeat! Criminal Escapee on Sector 2-4! Suspect identified as . . . ," then the intercom stops as if it's shocked as to who's escaping. "Quantum . . ." the intercom dryly and slowly finally says the name of the escapee.

Mr. Lopez explodes to life sprinting as fast as he can to hallway 2-4.
"We can't let that (curse spam) escape and let him almost destroy the whole M.S.A.A. again! We cannot!" Mr. Lopez yells as he runs out of the training room. You've never seen Mr. Lopez that angry in your life before. He was always calm and collected.

You see a few adults rush from one door through another door in the Main Hall. They all appear to be going to the left of you, probably to chase down the guy named Quantum.

 

OOC: Have I seen this prisoner before?

I run over to the security room (office? department? Just... where the cameras & files are kept and what not). I turn on my watch and yell, "Someone get sight on the escapee! Notify me the id of the person with visual!"

 

Issac's mind flashes to an rp he may or may not be running before silently shaking his fist up to the sky. He attempts to summon the halberd crackling with lightning, but does so with the knife if that doesn't work out.
Confidant!Isaac cracks a smile.
"Something wrong, kid? You know that's attempted murder, right?"
Actual Isaac is so emotionally exhausted at this point with the whole magic and actual murder thing that he doesn't even have the capacity to be scared out of his mind right now.

 

Niko: Well kid, looks like practice's over. I suggest, no, I order you to get to safety. You can't take him on, even if you've improved.

He then draws the longsword from the scabbard at his side and runs after Lopez.

Niko: I do rarely have a chance to... let loose. I wonder how many people I'll have to talk with later...

Ahh, so you recognize this character. Uh, just don't try to meta lol.

You fail to resummon your halberd and your knife is nowhere to be found.

You are able to resummon your halberd full of electricity but as you summon it, the cloaked figure shoots three arrows simultaneously and they all land somewhere on the halberd effectively knocking the weapon out of your hands. Another clear warning shot from this vigilante.

It's a Security Room.

Entering the Security Room, you see the guy who spoke in the intercom. He is furiously monitoring the cameras, locking doors, and telling all the other adults what to do. Mr. Hanzo notices you enter the room but doesn't say anything about it for he's too busy telling the other adults instructions. The files of all the recorded magic users are in a cabinet next to Mr. Hanzo.

Then, you get a response to your order.

"We have a visual on Quantum!" Mr. Lopez's voice booms through your watch. "He reached a dead end because of a closed door!" You can hear the sounds of explosions, grunts, and spell casting in the audio.

Yes you have, you have heard of him and seen him before, you don't know much of the backstory though.

Only Mr. Lopez but he's a Shardaic Mage and doesn't focus much on physical strength or fencing so that won't accomplish you too much.

After running down a series of hallways and grouping up with other adults, you all find Quantum at a dead end due to a closed door. You can hear Mr. Lopez speaking into a phone back to someone who asked for a visual and an id. Several of the weapon masters start to charge at Quantum all with varying abilities and tatics but Quantum easily slows them down with . . . a hand gesture? Then you realized that hand gesture summoned a purple symbol, a hex. The hex caused all of the weapon masters to trip and stumble over. Quantum then performs another hand gesture which summons three rows of purple spears floating above him ready to rain down on the stumbling adults. What do you do?

Niko rushes in towards Quantum, sword drawn.

Niko (under breath): I'm going to get in a heap of trouble for this, aren't I?
I'll summon a reprisal shard, targeting Quantum, and then telekinetically launch the sword at Quantum while moving to attempt blocking as much of the spears as possible.

If it looks like there is no other way, split up the mannequin currently used as the body and spread out the pieces to attempt blocking as many spears as possible.

Equipment / Belongings: Weapons: A staff like weapon but with sharp blades on the edges ( the handle is ~ half a meter (2 foot?)) and a heavily modified crossbow able to fire up to 6 arrows at once that also has small blades on it to take care of enemies up close. (If I can’t have several weapons I’ll remove one.) (Prefers Electric) A gun for emergency, although not a master sharpshooter. (Remove if not allowed.)

Clothing: Whide, dark grey hat.
Grey cloak with room for the crossbow.
Black jeans.
( Appearance: Fair skin colour.
Grey eyes (hence the nickname).
Brown, shoulder length hair. )

Backstory (optional but recommended): Originally a part of NIBIRU, Kraet ”Stormeye” Skilar parted ways with the order after an argument over the orders priorities. She decided to become a magic mercenary and hunt down criminals and monsters on her own. Helping most people with similiar views to her on the mission (even NIBIRU), she’s often looking for allies in hope to bring the orders together, although violence is not excluded if the task proves to hard. She lives in a small appartment near the outskirts.

Money / Income (depends on backstory): Depends on mission. Doesn’t do missions paying less than 750$.

 

Finally a female lol. Welcome! Also, idfk what the outskirts of New York are. I spent like 20 minutes just trying to figure out what would be considered the "outskirts" of New York . . . a really compact state.

As you sit in your apartment (ok plz i tried), you hear a knock on your door. "Letter from Order SIRIUS," the voice through the door says a little happily. It was a girl's voice, a really young girl's voice. "And no, it's not an invitation letter Ms. Skilar," the voice calls out again. What do you do?

I'm pretty sure they would've been able to summon another arrow and shoot you as you grabbed your halberd but kek, I'll play along. Also, this character is much different here than there and has a neat backstory.

The figure just barely steps back from the halberd swing and its electricity but does it gracefully like as if they're a pro and estimated that clearly. Then, the archer steps back a bit more, summons an arrow with a rubber tip (probably to not kill you), and shoots at you with a full drawback. What do you do?

Quantum wastes a full row of spears to block the fury of the Reprisal Shard and the sword. However, he still has two rows left. But as he's about to launch the other two rows, the door behind him slides up and the 14-year-old Shardaic Mage, James, makes an appearance quickly summoning three shards at once. A magenta colored enigma surrounds Quantum making his movements slower and both a fireball and a reprisal shard fire at Quantum. Quantum barely manages to use his other two rows of spears to block the wave of bullets. He still gets hit by a couple of the bullets but nothing too major. The maelstrom of time diminishes and Quantum makes a purple barrier between him and James. What do you do now?

You find the group of weapon masters on the ground trying to fight Quantum along with an adult talking on a phone and a guy standing up with a sword. You can see behind Quantum a purple barrier blocking off a teenager from the fight. What do you do now?

You can see a figure running down the hallway behind the closed door. You recognize them as a 14-year-old Shardaic Mage named James. Using this sight, you can see a little purple gas fuming off the magic that Quantum performs but you can't make out if it's actually doing anything. You also can see a yellow light in everyone's bodies except for Quantum's who has a dark purple light and another figure holding a sword who has no light at all in their body. In fact, it was the sword that seemed to emit light, a blue light. You recognize that this is Niko, the one fighting with Jacob earlier. Something was truly off here.

Quantum Locus is a Hex Master born in the year 1660, the exact date is forgotten. He has been apart of a dark cultist clan called the "Magia Tenebris" Latin for Dark Magic and has challenged the law consistently trying to gain control of the Government. A lot of these acts are considered "minor" but can't really be called that when a vast majority of them have almost or successfully taken down a full Order of the M.S.A.A. Currently, he reigns on Order NIBIRU even though he his locked up in Order SIRIUS. His influence on Order NIBIRU has caused them to go rogue forever and they are an Order that will need replacement soon.
