I look at him with intrigue but try to play it off as concern
Dez:"What the hell happened in that room?"

 

Thorston backs away and waits for the conversation to finish.

 

Scarf Guy: "Well.... I have foci in the form of guantlets, staves, weapons, random artifacts, and some food. A few potions that fell off the back of the wagon, although I don't know how lethal they are. A pair of glasses that lets you see if a person is actually a shapeshifted porcupine, and a spellbook of color change."

Mildly Mauled Man: "Portable Dragon, Feisty things. Not much to be worried over, though."

Injured Lady: "So that's when everything goes further to hell, and a bunch of cultists and adventurers that survived the tavern explosion start killing each other."
Injured Lady: "At this point, I'm running as fast as I can with a newly cyclopsed 200-pound warrior plus armor on my back, and front row seat to a play of just straight up insanity."
Injured Lady: "I saw a lot of messed up stuff, but I think the weirdest thing I saw was this elven guy materialize out of thin air."
Bartender: "Thin ai- he just... from nothing?"
Injured Lady: "Instantly picked a fight with another guy. Yeah, we skipped town real fast after that."

 

Dez:"Okay then, what can you tell me about rhis sholder lizard and this bird?"

 

I continue doing what I'm doing.

 

"Aha. What are those random artifacts? Also would you like to buy a spellbook od delyed time bomb?"
It's the one I edited to make to caster explode instead of the target.

 

"Yes I saw them in the tavern . . ." Kae paused for a second before something was made plain to her. "Wait, they're no longer in the tavern?"

 

Mildly Mauled Man: "Well, the shoulder lizard is actually a special species from a far-off jungle to the east. Every year, they double in size, up until they eventually die from the square-cube law. Apparently, they don't have the magical protections that some other large beasts do. The bird, on the other hand, is just a normal bird. Quite a bit more intelligent than most people give birds credit for, but still a bird."

Bartender: "My my, this is all quite terrible. Say, do you know why everything went to the mud so quickly?"
Injured Woman: "All I know is that the fires came from the western end. Still, I wonder what kind of insane villain caused it. Now that I remember, there were a lot of shady people in that town. "
Bartender: "Well, you're here now, and I doubt that they'll try it here. Oh.."

The bartender turns to face you.
"Is there anything you want?"

Scarf Guy: "Random statues and accessories that were recovered from plundered tombs and such. Don't know exactly what they do, per say, so I'd channel magic through them with caution."

The man's panic is rising with every word, and beads of sweat are dripping down his face. "I don't know! They cast some kind of mist spell, and when it cleared, they were gone and the boss had a sword in her gut!"

 

Dez:"If the bird can follow my directions and won't fly away first chance it gets, then I'll take it"

 

"Right... I think I'll go somewhere else."
I go to the next seller on my backwards venture.

 

Thorston: "What do you have?"

 

Mildly Mauled Man: "You'll probably be fine."
He grabs a smaller cage from the back, coaxes the bird inside, and puts it on the counter.
"Alrighty then, that'll be 40 Gold right up front."

The first thing you're hit by is the smell.
It just smells shady.
There are a few shelves, maybe about 1/3 filled with books, and several figures in long garb sitting on ratty old chairs. A fireplace, currently on its last legs, crackles away in the corner.
The building (room, really) is silent.

Bartender: "Well, we have some basic Kalgut from the capital, some northern mead, some fog coast brew, and some bread and meat, if you need a meal to go down with it."

 

Kae glanced at the door for a second, a nervous look on her face. "Well . . . I haven't seen them exit the building yet. Has the mist faded away yet?"

 

I give him 40 gold and ask
Dez:"Quick question is it a he or a she?"

Edit: Can you describe how the bird looks or let me describe (except species)

 

I look through the books.

 

Oh boi, Hm didn't reply, how's that life thing going for you. Must be nice and all, leaving your players to die from rp-less starvation.

He looks closely at the bird for a few seconds.
Mildly Mauled Man: "Hmmm... Yup, that's a he. Have fun with him."
[-40 GC]

A massive roar comes from the back, shaking the entire building.

"..What? Again!? Uhh... Thank you for coming, I have something I need to handle. And the hiring of someone who can wrangle a portable dragon without getting mauled, I guess."

Kae took a short breath and shifted in her little stance before sighing and saying, “They couldn’t have gotten too far. Can’t you just get your group and hunt down the two men?”

 

I take spellbook's of: Alter Self, Invisibillity and that weird one, and I go ask how much they cost.

Also, are you taking some sort of medication that makes you sleep so much? or are you just not sleeping at all?
