Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"How many generations are there?" Sel asks.


Ihra is teleported to another elevator near to a black door with red glowing runes etched into it.

 

"Six. 1 through 5, then Gen 0 which is a throwback to Gen 1s."


Ihra looks for any nearby guards, a bit offput by the door.

 

"How do I get up there?"

He makes a few hops. *hop* *hop*

 

"Why would you go back to an older version?" Sel asks.


There seems to be a rather heavily armoured guard a short distance from her, a powerful looking hammer on his back.

 

"Walk up the walls." She laughs. "Not that hard."

"Gen 1 Autos had the longest lifespan out of he first four. Gen 5 focused on partial conversion of bodies, but Gen 0 focused on total robotic body replacements."


"Is, uh, Aj in there?"

 

He walks towards the wall and puts one of his feet against it.

"Alright.. here goes."
He lifts his other leg and tries to place it on the wall.

 

Gravity seems to change as you step, and you soon find yourself standing parallel to the ground.
Curious, Sgavrinn also tries stepping onto the wall, and winds up doing the exact same thing.
"Just be careful... whatever way you were oriented is the way you'll fall. Scraping dead bodies off the cave ceiling is a chore, so don't get yourself splattered up there, alright?"

 

"Eh, sure."

He continues walking until he's also on the ceiling, or on the ground.
"Can I actually fall down?"

 

"Define down." Nebe chuckles.

 

Sel shivers a bit.


The guard looks Ihra over, before nodding.

 

“Something like that.”
I nod.

 

"Gen 1s also had a flaw that... made them push our race to extinction. We narrowly avoided that."


"Could I go in and talk to him?"

 

"Well, like, I jump to high and the gravity of the ceiling or ground pulls me towards it. Is such a thing possible?"

(What does she look like actually?)

 

"Anyhow, I'll probably be back before you come knocking at my door. Stay safe out there, will you?"

 

"Why did they do that?" Sel asks.


The guard nods again.

 

She looks human with fair skin, shoulder-length brown hair, and is wearing armor made of the crystals on the ceiling.

"Well, yeah. How do you think fools splatter up there?"

"Beats me." Pozel shrugs.


"...How does the door work and why is a door intimidating?"

 

“Will do. Same to you.”

 

"Aha. I hope you'll protect me from doing that."

He looks at the crystals.
"What are those crystals anyway?"

 

"That couldn't happen again, could it?" Sel asks, sounding worried.


"Like any other door." The guard says bluntly.

 

"I hope you aren't dumb enough to jump from a ceiling towards the roof of the cave." She laughs. "The crystals are this thing we call lucivite. If being here in this dream world wasn't crazy enough, lucivite makes it crazier. It's a light, a key, and more. Of course, extracting it is tough, but that's a minor qualm."

"No, not nowadays. Back then, we were trying to fight ion cannons with sharp rocks. We've got ways to fight back if something went wrong again."


Ihra goes up to it and looks for a handle. If she doesn't see one, she just pushes on the door.

"Thanks." She says, cracking a smile before opening a portal and leaving.
