Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Is there any way to recharge the batteries?" Sel asks.


Warm embers crackle in the fireplace creating a soft glow, a fluffy duvet covering Ihra as she can hear rain pattering against the window of her room, thunder crashing occasionally.

 

"This is a dream, right? I want to be sure before I enter."

 

"Ruin the surprise."
I disguse myself (and when I 'disguse' I mean creating an illusion because that's how I've chosen to limit my powers) to look like him.

 

"Are you dreaming?"

"Nope, not on older Autos."


She yawns again, sighing as she gets up and heading for the door.

"...I assume you'd just ignore me if I asked you to stop?"

 

"Does this scare you?" I say, imitating his voice.

 

"Somewhat, yes. It's more concerning than anything else."

"Doesn't help that I have to trade widows for time outside of Atavul's palace, either. Not like I can really argue much without bringing Atavul to their doorstep."

 

"Atavul?"
I ask.

 

"I think. I mean, I was sleeping before I got here. In this 'world' that is."

He rolls his eyes. "So yeah, I believe I'm dreaming."

 

"High god of fire and war. Loves chaos, and only lets his servants leave his domain if we bring him, and I'm not joking about this, a certain amount of suffering. Killing half of a couple is the easiest way to do that."

"Well, be careful. You might wake up when you die... that can't be said for everyone else here."

The doors open inwards, and despite there being sounds of footsteps and conversations, you can't see anyone.

 

"Well, I have demon blood in me for a reason."

 

"I feel like demon blood could be used for something bigger than mimicry. Though, that makes me curious... what's it like being a demon?"

 

"Thank you, whoever is talking."

He walks inside and waves over to Sgavrinn.
"Come on, Sgavrinn."

 

"I guess it would be."
I nod.
"Where are you heading off to after this?"

 

"What about replacing the battery?" Sel asks.


The door is closed, but it doesn't look locked.

 

"Back home. Running out of time."

"Older generations used some sort of bionic attachment to the brain or something. Replacing the battery would be like taking one person out of a body and putting in another."


Ihra tries opening it.

"Nebe. Tread carefully."

Sgavrinn stays close behind you, keeping his head low.

 

He enters the castle and looks around, keeping his guard up.

 

There's an archway ahead and two curving halls to either side. Through the archway and through many windows, you can see a city of spirits. No building except a central tower matches the architectual style of the entry or halls.

 

"The eternal plane?"

He stops moving and looks around.
