Not All Xp Bonusses Applied?

What I'm wearing:
Olux's Prized Bow: +15% XP Bonus
Jester Necklace: +30%* XP Bonus
Morph-Topaz: +4% XP Bonus
Greaves of honour: +34%* XP Bonus

Total: +83% XP Bonus

But my account information (in the compass) shows I only have a +48% XP Bonus? Does the asterix have anything to do with it?

 

The jester necklace has a -xp bonus when it is put on (look at the bottom of the item, the set bonus is -25% xp or something)

oh and sometimes your weapon doesn't register in the compass menu but you still get the bonus from the bow


as for the asterisk, that means the XP bonus is above average/good for that item. 2 stars means its very good and 3 stars means its maxed. if you want me to go into more detail ill be more than happy to.

 

Awesome, thanks. That would make sense: 83 (total) - 25 (jester) = 58. 58 - 15 (Weapon not registering) = 43.

Still makes me wonder, why does it give me the -25% xp & -25% loot set bonus when it's not a full set?

Set bonuses work a little bit different. There are different set bonuses when you equip more pieces.

 

It is intended to give you the -25% with each piece you equip. The jesters used to be the best loot/xp accessories available. They got nerfed. You're supposed to use them for their combat bonuses. You can roll for a max of 33% which means the best you'll ever get from a jester item is 8%. Lots of items are better than 8% xp, but only just. Rarity, a lvl 1 ring and the best xp ring in the game now, gives a max of 14% xp. When the rings didn't have as high of a -% they were really really OP in terms of leveling potential. Jesters aren't useless in terms of XP bonus, not by far, but there are other options if you're trying to make an XP bonus build.
