Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Sgavrinn!"

He yells at Sgavrinn before going into the shed and grabbing the crystals.

 

“All right. I’m headed there now.”

 

"Well it's not like I've stuck my scythe into you yet."

 

Pozel looks looks any other needles or spools of thread Sel has lying around.


"Probably the former."

"Not like I could avoid it at this point."

"Expect to be there before her."

He turns and looks at you confusedly.

The bucket's heavy, but taking one isn't too hard.

 

There's a few spools littered about of coloured thread, and a small ball of yarn with needles of varying rustiness and quality stuck in it. Patches of torn up cloth and material lie under the spools or about the place.


"Does he have any weaknesses?" Artemis asks.

 

Pozel glances at the needles, a bit concerned.


"Darkness is the obvious one, but you'll probably need to befriend the Timekeepers' Council. If you want to put Xlentia down, you can have her strike at him, but both of them will be sealed for millennia if history winds up repeating itself."

 

"What's wrong?" Sel asks, noticing Pozel looking at the needles and walking over to them. As Sel picks a rusty one out, it breaks in half, the rust eaten through it.


"Haha, easy." I say, looking smug.

"Don't let your ego grow too massive Aj, I can already see you stroking it." Abigail says bluntly.

"Oh come on, Shadow Stephanie and I clearly have the advantage here." I say.

"Don't let your hubris be your downfall." Artemis says.

 

“That’ll be fine.”

 

"...That."


"Actually, that already means you have no chance taking him on yourself. Besides, he's more agile than you, and you're also weak to light."
Pause.
"...The big problem with him is that he gets strength from strikes that miss, and there's probably nothing more evasive than he is."

"I'll let you know when she finishes up and is on het way, then."

 

“I’ll be on standby.”

 

Sel puts the broken needle behind the yarn, deciding to ignore it.


"How does that work?" I ask.

"Does he have some sort of magical charm?" Katie asks inquisitively.

 

Pozel just watches, a bit unsure.


"No, it's a natural ability. How it works is beyond me, but it's probably like how Xlentia draws strength from fear."

 

Sel reaches for another needle with rust in patches, before quickly retracting her hand and waving it a bit, like she touched a hot stove.


"That's probably why she was so hard to beat..." Katie says, looking down.

Abigail hugs Katie.

 

"...Here, let me try something."
Pozel takes a bit of metal off his tail, which shapes itself into a needle shape, then he hands it to Sel.
"Nanobots might help with that."


"Well, just remember not to remind Atavul of all the pain and suffering he's caused. Your mage friend is a good example of what that causes... though I still attest that knocking her out and stopping Atavul from drawing strength out of the visions saved her."

 

Sel takes the needle and looks at it.


"Mage friend? You mean Stephanie?" Abigail asks, confused.

"Yeah she...almost killed herself. She drained all of her magic." I say.

"Jesus christ where is she?" Abigail asks.

"With Praecantatia. She's taking care of her." Artemis says, before suddenly looking a bit hurt, glancing off into the distance.

"Can we go see her then? You've got a portal to that place right?" Abigail asks.

"Well...no. Stephanie was our only way to get to and from there. The only other way I can think of is praying to Tenebrae or something to get in contact with her." I say.

Abigail looks frustrated.

 

He takes one and heads back outside.
"Let's see if this works."

Holding one of the crystals, he walks back to the castle.

 

"..."
"Hey, want to see something cool?"

 

It looks like a new needle, except the metal isn't particularly lustrous.


Ihra tries reaching out to Praecantatia.

"...Well, I'm going to leave you to your reunion. It was nice to meet you all, hopefully I'll get another chance to visit before you knock on my door with artillery." Rose says, smiling and waving as she steps aside. "Trust me when I say you don't want Atavul angry with you, especially if you serve him." She adds with a nervous laugh, stepping through the portal.

"Are you actually giving me a choice?"

This time... you actually make progress towards the castle. Sgavrinn looks super far away (until he winds up running into you), but you're finally managing to get closer.

 

"This...isn't iron?" Sel asks.


It seems to take a lot of telepathic strength to even locate and reach Praecantatia, and even then, she feels blocked by something.

"Why would we ever serve him?" I ask.

Artemis suddenly hugs me, looking sad.

 

"No, it's a bunch of nanobots. Watch."
Pozel looks at the needle, and after a bit of motion in his hololens, the needle turns into a tiny ring.
"I could make them into anything. They just make up my tail."


Ihra tries to trace the block.

"I was implying it's worse on the inside." She says, stepping through and closing the portal.
