«rp» Fate's Eye [7/7] ~arc 3~

"....We haven't really talked to each other before, right? I'm James." James offered a hand to the older man, who shook it.

"My pleasure, James. I'm Tyrinel." The man introduced himself. "Say, James, you are an yeti, right?"

"......yeah? What about it?"

"No, I was just curious. Like the seraphs and other rare demi-human races, yetis live secluded from society. You know, this is the first time I've met one before."

".....I see." James shrugged.

They encountered a group of a dozen undeads on their way, which James annihilated in seconds. As he started to walk forward again, Tyrinel stopped him.

"Wait." He said curtly, then continued to sniff the air. He narrowed his eyes. "I smell miasma from in front of us. Should we still continue...?"

"....The candidate's gem?" The woman seemed genuinely confused. "Sorry, I don't know anything about that."

".....But you are part of the Eight Fingers." Angela said, reaching Alice behind her.

"I am. But I don't know all of the things that goes on the organisation; only the executives know of them. Plus, many of the ability users like me are here for our own benefits. I can't care about anything else, honestly."

"I can't fight..." Marcus heard the doctor murmur from behind him; he clicked his tongue. There weren't anyone who could fight in this place. Even if they were, they were most likely chained up and unable to join.

A throwing pick barely missed Marcus as he rolled. The chain slashed at him, and he blocked it with the pelt he picked up from the ground.

Now he was directly under the undead with the club.

There seemed to be a shock amongst the guards— they failed to react as Archibaud leapt over them. The people at the back turned towards Archibaud as he landed, then charged at him.

 

I spin the scythe so in the end the blade is towards the ground and when somebody attacks me I deflect with the bottom of the handle and in a easy motion slice at there legs

 

Rathius approaches the body, holding out his hand to cast Gao if something happened.
Once he's close enough he puts his hand on the body head.

 

"Eh, I guess it's understandable" I shrug, getting closer to the unconscious girl
"But then why is she here, with you, unconscious and probably beaten up? Orders I presume, but still, why?" I ask

 

“Nor can the boy, and he didn’t do terribly!”
Marcus retorts as he turns his back to the club user so the club hits the bulk of his pelts.

 

(I like how I'm basically killing swarms of guys off screen)
"Well, if your concerned..."
I look around for another route.

 

@Amun_Ra I've had a pretty awful week and have been forgetting to respond lately... sorry about that.

Moving in a blur, I quickly and methodically hack the advancing guards into pieces, severing their heads and each of their limbs.

 

Nothing seemed to have happened; it was just a plain corpse. Rathius retracted his hand, slightly disgusted.

“...I don’t approve of reckless actions like that, Rathius.” Kayde said as Rathius retreated.

The guards Archibaud cuts scream and fall down; the others behind them swing down their weapons down simultaneously at Archibaud’s front, while two attack from his sides.

It was the woman’s turn to shrug. “I’m not doing this for fun. She’s an elf, and I can relate to their pain of being compared to the Jealous Witch.” She paused. “But it is my job to take care of enemy invaders that are sent here.”

Angela touches a hand on Alice’s leg, whose body was being suspended to the wall. Her skin was still warm to touch; she was alive and well. She didn’t have any major injuries that could be seen. But what bothered Angela was.....

“What the hell?” She ran her hand over the shadow over Alice’s body. They were like normal shadows cast in the dark corridor by the torchlight, but it was holding Alice against the wall and half-swallowing her into the surface.

 

"Oh please..." He shrugs and walks back to the others.
"...just one person can't do much."

 

Marcus spins and stabs his dagger at the rapier user slowly getting up, straight through his head. The undead made a gurgling sound, then fell back, limp. But the club user swung his club, catching Marcus and throwing him away to the side. The hunter covered himself with his pelt quickly before throwing picks and chains attacked him.

“.....Alright.” Marcus barely heard the doctor mutter darkly, then in the next moment, the club user staggered back, having been punched in the face. The doctor used the large guard’s body to block throwing picks thrown at him. He turned a calm expression to Marcus. “This one, I will take. Happy?”

Carol shook her head. “I agree, you should take more caution. We are in enemy grounds, so we can expect danger from any directions...”

A bright light shone from where the corpse was; the three of them turned towards it with surprised expressions. A circle made of light expanded and started surrounding the body.

“Get back!” Carol ordered, and the three of them took a few steps back in caution.

“Hello~. I guess I should say, welcome to the Eight Fingers.”

In the next moment, the light disappeared. In the place of where the corpse used to be was a single young man in a gray cloak. He smiled at the sight of the three.

James didn’t find any other routes. Tyrinel narrowed his eyes more. “These are... witchfiends. Many or one, I can’t tell. But it’s up ahead, for sure.”

As Andrei did so, he realised a crucial fact; his Divine Blessing was not picking up life forms from the guards he was cutting down.

Puppets...? Andrei wondered, but continued his rampage. At the corner of his eyes, he saw the unmasked guards going pale and escaping from the room downstairs.

 

"Thank you for the warm welcome, but I'm not here because I want to."

He stands up straight and looks at the man. "Mind to introduce yourself?"

 

I put my hand back in the string "I guess I get what you say" I admit, thinking on what the Royal Guards would do if someone invaded the Kingdom
"What is this black mess?" I carefully ask the woman, pointing my head to Alice

 

I jump back a little and start holding the scythe normally and attack the ones that attacked from the side

 

"Good."
Marcus said loudly, trying to get up in order to rush the pick-thrower.
"Tripping him may be ideal."

 

With a little grunt, the man leapt up from the stool. He narrowed his eyes and smiled at the three.

"I'm Juhel. An Ability User of the Eight Fingers." Without any weapons, the man stood spreading his arms.

"....Carol Remendis."

"Kayde Ferris."

"Rathius Tinzel."

"I appreciate that. I really do." The man said, then clicked his finger. "«One's Greatest Enemy is Oneself»."
Then———

Three grey figures rose from in front of the man. Their skin was translucent, giving them an ethereal atmosphere. Their forms changed, then....

"Carol Remendis."

"Kayde Ferris."

"Rathius Tinzel."

Exact copies of Carol, Kayde, and Rathius appeared facing them.

"That is my ability." The woman said, making Angela retreat her finger in surprise. She turned back to the cloaked ability user—— only to find her no longer there.

From behind her Angela heard the woman's voice. "I guess that's enough talking. Let's start this."

 

"Now that's interesting. " He looks at the copy of himself.

"How are supposed to win from ourselves, they know how we fight I bet." He says jokingly.

 

"Let's just go then. Miasma or not."

 

"Oh no you don't. El Fula!"

I disregard the puppet guards, and take a flying leap towards the fleeing humans, calling up a blast of wind to propel me towards them while scattering the puppets. If I'm successful in launching myself, I attempt to tackle them as I land.

 

Almost.... too easy, isn't it? Izanami muttered, and Archibaud nodded in return.

It didn't take him a minute to wipe out the guards. These weren't undeads, and thus were stronger, but still they were no match for him. As a warrior of the Kingdom, he felt no guilt in cutting down men of Vorkir, even worse members of a criminal organisation.

After looking through the corpses, Archibaud sighed. "I should've left one alive or something."

He continued down his path.

Something's up, don't you think? Izanami said as they kept walking. They had encountered a few rooms and whatnot, as well as some undead sentries, but had not met a single soul.

It's like the enemy's afraid of sending their soldiers to us. Archibaud joked, but as he said that, he started doubting if that was really true.

He took another step forward— and instantly knew something was wrong. His body felt heavy, and he no longer felt the mana from the atmosphere coming into his body.

What's happening, Iza?

Something's taking in mana from the atmosphere, at a quicker rate than we are! The atmosphere here has almost no mana at all!

"Geeeeheehehehe. This is a veeery interesting sight, isn't it!? The Great Scythe, reduced to the level of a normal human! Gahahahaa!"

Across the stone corridor was standing a single, obese man. He was wearing a formal suit but his poached belly made it look too small. With his bolding blonde head and face lined with fat, he was the very image of an unpleasant corrupt noble.

The doctor did not respond— he grabbed the guard's sleeve and spun, throwing him to the ground skilfully.

Marcus rushed at the throwing weapons user, lifting his pelt in defense. With his knife, he was much more advantageous in close-combat. In seconds, he had the undead's head sliced off, and the body fell down with a thump. When Marcus turned back, the doctor was subjugating the chain user with an arm around its neck— Marcus went and stabbed it in its heart. He did the same with the club user– and they were all dead.

The doctor didn't say anything as he adjusted his gloves.

 

Marcus went around and cut off the heads of all the remaining guards.
"If you can't fight, then I'm a god."
He says to the doctor.
