Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Yeah. He's relaxing amongst the stand. He'll be fine."

 

Sel flies over to a desk in her room, a small faerie-sized shirt on it with a red coloured patch on a hole; mostly sewn.


"What sort of punishment is that meant to be?" I ask.

 

"I guess he doesn't need to eat... thanks, by the way."

Pozel stands off to the side and watches.


"It isn't a punishment. It's just a ruse so we demons can party after we get roughed up by so-called demon hunters who justify murder by doing it to us."

 

Sel sews the patch onto the shirt, before holding it up and looking it over.


"What do you 'demons' do then apart from party?" Abigail asks, crossing her arms.

 

"No problem. I'm sure he'll get to me if he needs anything."

 

"So, sewing is sort of like clothes repair?"


"Garden, raise families - or try to, hunters love going after children - sometimes we add a little bit of love in the air for couples we think would be perfect together. Hell's like our little city in a vast land of nobody-wants-you-alive." She shrugs. "Where do you think I get all these roses?"

"True. It just seemed unlike him to become fixated on one thing for so long."

 

"You'd be surprised."
Voidfiller grins.
"...And, uh, I was wondering if you could use a different name for whatever sign-up thing you use."

 

"Mmhmm." Sel nods.


"That sounds really sweet." Artemis says happily.

"Sounds sort of like Gaia's Garden." Abigail comments.

"Are these hunters human?" I ask, curious.

 

"Interesting. How does the thread not break? I notice it's not made of metal."


"Some are, but you've got everything from dryads to merfolk claiming that they're going to cleanse us from existence. Thus, most of my kind is willing to fight back, and we get a bad rap. Suddenly hell is the term used for some afterlife purgatory when we really just have a benevolent queen who's a bit too lovesick for her own good... I just happen to be an efficient that would rather other people do loving in my place. No partner for me, I've seen what that can do to a lady."

"You don't get to hide behind a pseudonym."

 

He sighs.
"Fine."

 

"Nobody gets to hide behind a pseudonym, not even warriors who forgot their real name."

 

"Figures."
He loosens eye contact.

 

"Gotta keep track of wannabe imposters somehow."

 

"Well, it can break if you stress it, but they're strong enough to hold." Sel says.


"Hm. Our realities are really different." I comment, thinking.

"A-Abigail!?" Katie exclaims from the palace gardens, noticing Abigail.

"Katie!" Abigail says happily.

Katie sprints through the palace gates, tackling Abigail in a hug.

"I-I missed you so much!" Katie says, slightly tearful; raindrops falling away from Abigail.

 

"Yeah."
He nods.
"So, when am I fighting?"

 

"Hm... interesting. Reminds me of the old days." Pozel says, smiling.


Ihra giggles and Rose smiles.
"This is why I want to get to know you and your friends, Aj. There are people behind the weapons in a battle, and the biggest shame about war is all the precious connections that are lost. I don't care if you're a formidable opponent or not; I want to know what's at stake."

"Three hours."

 

"I'll be at the arena in two and a half."
He nods.

 

"Meet your opponent in the arsenal them." Emerald says, heading back towards the library.

 

"I will."
He says before falling into a portal, disappearing from sight.

 

"I sometimes sell my clothes, but they don't usually sell for very much. I mostly do it for fun." Sel says.


"Then why bother fighting us?" Abigail asks, "Why not just join us?"

Artemis whispers something to me, and I nod, agreeing.
