"Do you think you can grow vines all the way up to those crystals?"

 

"I was wandering around town. They wound up being the first people who didn't run from me like the plague. One of them brought up trying to steal from me, I think, but I didn't really bring many personal belongings that aren't already part of me. Tech came up in the conversation, so I became curious about you."

He looks up, looks at his foot, then just moans, looking at you hesitantly.

 

Gil glares at Kia and Sel.

"We're not thieves," He says, before glancing back at Pozel, "I'm probably the one with the most technical knowledge here, if I'm being honest."

 

“Berries, vegetables, metals, parts of rainbows, sometimes even eyes.”

 

"Ah, I remember. I was saying how I've never seen magic before, then I tried explaining how I can still warp without using magic. I... can't remember which one said they think many things could intercept my warp, and I responded with civilian grade defensive viruses that can brick systems and storage at a rate of four zettabytes... then I couldn't remember if that was per minute or second."

"A raiwhat?"

 

"Zettabytes?" Gil asks.

 

"Oh, right. A billion terabytes in a zettabyte."

 

"That's...a lot of storage space. What materials do you use to store that much?" Gil asks.

 

"Hell if I know, I hail from a tribal race. You'd need to ask someone else. And, that's not storage, that's transfer rate. We have a system named Stella that has a couple hundred artificial moons worth of data storage."

 

"You consider that sort of technology tribal?" Gil asks, shocked.

 

"I mean, my people are tribal. And no, we consider that sort of technology civilian grade. Military grade blows that out of the water."
Pause.
"...Except everyone here gets offended when I mention that the tech here makes me feel like I'm stepping into a dark age."

 

"It's natural for you to feel like that." Gil shrugs.

 

"Thank you for not being a critic." Pozel sighs, looking somewhat relieved. "But... this whole magic stuff seems pretty neat."

 

"It's the reason we haven't died of thirst." Kia comments, pointing to the sink. A blue crystal seems to be jammed in the tap.

"It has advantages with technology too, especially as a power source." Gil says.

 

"Hm. I wonder if we could incorporate some magic into the tech at home..." Poze mutters, lost in thought.

 

“I rainbow. I guess you haven’t seen one, as they are ‘created’ after it rains.”

 

"I think you might need to ask some of the more experienced people if your society is so advanced. I just managed to get my computer running well enough to manage our finances." Gil says.

"Don't lie, Gil. You spend most of your time playing games on that instead of scavenging with us." Kia says.

 

"I don't know what rain is, so... probably?"

"Games are better when you play them in an environment that shifts to match the game terrain. I don't know how people stand to play things sitting in front of a computer..." Pozel comments, tail shifting as he looks through his cores.

 

"I can't really afford VR." Gil sighs.
