Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“It’s just the material it’s made out of. Why’s dirt brown?”

 

"I thought you could make stuff any color. The humans did it with wood."

 

"Ok, good." Kia says, seeming a little calmer as she turns with Sel, flying away; though slow enough to let Pozel keep pace.

 

“Yes, you can with paint, but paint on swords is... less than ideal.”

 

"...yes." I say it in the most confident voice I can muster.

 

"You think you can break some of those crystals?"

 

He's able to keep pace easily, though he slows down quite a bit once he retracts the external leg enhancements.

He flies by and tries swiping at one of the crystals, but the crystal doesn't budge and he cries out in pain.

"Well, show me where it is, and sure. I've got the whole day off today, anyways."

"What stuff is normally purple? And why is paint on swords bad?"

 

“You want swords to be sharp. Putting paint on swords has a slight chance of making it not as sharp. And, lots of things are purple naturally.”

 

"Okay, could you get down to the ground again? I have another plan."

 

"Like what?"

He nods, descending a bit slower than usual.

 

Kia and Sel lead Pozel through the city, ending up near the outskirts as they take an obscure route through alleys.

 

Pozel keeps quiet, glancing behind himsef occasionally to see if the three are being trailed.

 

Pozel notices a pair of red eyes disappear into the darkness as he glances behind himself, but they don't seem to return.

Kia and Sel eventually end up at a somewhat rundown looking house in a poor looking part of the town, surprisingly normal-sized. Kia flies up to the door and knocks in a certain pattern, and a short while later, a faerie with brown hair and green eyes opens it; hovering in the doorway. He seems to be in darker coloured clothes which look rather well worn, stitched up in some places.

"Hey Gil, we found someone who wanted to meet you." Kia says.

The faerie, presumably Gil, glances past Kia at Pozel.

"You sure we can trust him?" Gil asks quietly.

"Apparently he's not from here!" Sel says happily.

"Hm. Alright. Well, come in, I got us something special for dinner." Gil says, flying inside.

"We're actually having dinner tonight?" Kia asks as she follows.

Sel glances back at Pozel and smiles, motioning for him to follow her as she flies in.

 

"Take it easy, okay? I don't want you to get hurt."

Once they are on the ground, he gets off from Sgavrinn's back.

 

He turns his tail into a scanner and sweeps it behind him, only entering if it doesn't detect any onlookers.

Once he lands, he lays down and wraps his foot in vines.

 

There doesn't seem to be anyone else, Sel closing the door after Pozel enters.

The inside of the house smells old and dusty, a hallway to a kitchen directly in front of Pozel, with doors to the left and right and a staircase built into the left wall of the hallway. Sel flies down the hallway to the kitchen, probably to find out what Gil got for dinner.

 

Pozel follows Sel, trying not to bump into or step on anything.

 

The floorboards creak as Pozel goes, dust flying up from them.

Once inside the kitchen, Pozel can see Kia, Sel and Gil standing on a table, a white bag with what looks to be balls of newspaper inside of it.

"You ready?" Gil asks as he pulls out one of the balls of newspaper and unwraps it, revealing what looks to be crispy bits of batter and a small pile of chips, some of them blackened.

"No way! How did you afford this?" Kia asks.

"Hold on, you haven't seen the best bit." Gil says, pulling out the second ball of newspaper. It seems to be a lot longer than the one containing chips. As Gil unwraps it, it reveals a large battered fish.

"You didn't steal this, did you?" Sel asks, concerned.

"We haven't had a meal like this in ages!" Kia says happily.

"The shop was closing for the day and they had this leftover. They can't leave it overnight and sell it, so they let me have it for free. The chips are just what was left in their fryers." Gil asks.

Kia hugs Gil suddenly, who hugs Kia back. Sel flies over to a broken looking drawer and yanks it open, a heavy clanging of cutlery as it jerks open. Sel takes out a rusty looking knife and a fork missing a prong, carrying them back over to the food.

"Do you want a bit?" Sel asks as she looks up at Pozel.

 

He shakes his head.
"No, I'm fine. Biocells are full, I'd just be wasting energy you could be having. Thanks for the offer, though." He says, mostly focused on his hololens.

 

Sel cuts the fish up into thirds as Kia sorts out portions of chips, the faeries eating their meal once they each have a portion.

"So how'd you run into Kia and Sel?" Gil asks, looking up at Pozel after eating some of his food.
