“Are you sure you’re going to be okay?”

 

"What's 'Tribal' for you then?" The guardian asks, raising an eyebrow inquisitively.

 

"Vibroblades on sticks and biochemical power generators. Loincloths if your tribe is really suffering, or animal pelt clothing. Also none of the whole nanobots gig, that cost adds up quick."

"I haven't felt quite this bad before, but I remember someone telling me to swallow something that was wrapped in a piece of canvas. I think it went down the wrong pipe."

 

"Yeah, you coughed that up back at the room. Do you want me to get it?"

 

The guardian looks confused.

"So it's either paradise or you live in the dumps with no powers at all?" The guardian asks.

 

"No, there's still grey areas. I just come from the most famous tribe, so difficulty of getting the tech isn't really an issue to me." He shrugs. "In fact, my entire tribe could pretty much get free cybernetics if we wanted."

"Only if there's still something in there other than the canvas."

 

I shrug.
"There might be. Why did you eat it, anyways?"

 

"One of my guards told me to." She shrugs.

 

"This is how people get assassinated, Matriarch."
I say bluntly.

 

"It's been ten years, I somehow doubt it was an assassination attempt."

 

"You just now threw up something you ate ten years ago, huh..."

 

"Well, I don't know if it's still there."

 

"If you don't eat canvas paper any other time, that was it."

 

"That was it."

 

"In that case, you threw it up."
I say confidently.

 

"Okay."
He awkwardly sits down next to him.

 

The guardian looks extremely confused.

 

"I meant the thing inside the canvas."

"Okay, so a super prominent religious figure came from my tribe. We practically get everything we want for next to nothing. There's tribes with some luxuries, it's not just black-and-white."

Sgavrinn winds up unable to fall asleep, shifting about every now and then before sighing and nuzzling you.

 

“I didn’t touch it. Should I go back?”

 

"Can't sleep? Hehe, I know how that feels."
