Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

She keeps a hand on your shoulder, still very unstable as she goes.

 

I let her, cautious of any signs of weariness as we keep going.

 

"Oil." The guardian says, checking her nails.

 

She doesn't pick up the pace, but she doesn't slow down. She hesitates by the time you get to the end of the hall.
"One minute, please..."

"Oil? That's an element? Boy, magic is weird..."

 

"I'm a mix between death and water. Oil, tar, those sorts of things are my 'element'." The guardian says.

 

"Oh... wait, death is an element? God, how does anyone remember this stuff?" He mutters, the hologram changing. "Then again, I'm one to talk..."

 

I nod.
“Take your time.”

 

"The opposite of life, or forest as most say. It seems to have quite...mutating effects if a hybrid like me combines their elements when they're assigned properly," The guardian says, "I've seen it create acid guardians too. We're a lot more...vulnerable, though."

 

She lets go and quickly collapses on the ground, sitting up a moment after.
"...How much did I cough up?"

 

“A lot. And you were out for a total of five hours. Meaning that you’re probably hungry, huh.”

 

"Well, that sounds at least more diverse than either being an AI or not being an AI." Pozel shrugs. "Also, if you don't mind me asking, do you know what the pinnacle of technology would be in this... reality, I think?"

"Eating would probably be a decent idea, yes."

 

"That robotic girl you were talking to." The guardian says, shrugging.

 

“I don’t have food on me. How about we leave for today?”

 

"Man... it feels like the dark ages, from what I'm used to." He half-chuckles, half-sighs. "It's just a huge change in scenery and everything, I guess."

"I'm going to just sit here for a few... still weary."

 

"I'm sure you have flying cars, lightspeed travel and pills that cure every single disease." The guardian says, rolling her eyes.

 

“Once again, take your time.”

 

"We have machines that relocate solar systems, faster-than-lightspeed travel, and medical nanobots that are precise enough to kill any harmful cells or residual toxins without harming the body that last about fifty years per vaccination... though sort of funny you bring up cars, I'm watching a lecture on them. They seem terribly fuel inefficient." Pozel says.

She nods, scooting back to a wall and leaning back.
She looks a bit pale, but mostly just seems exhausted.

 

"Must be nice. I'd prefer things to stay how they are here though." The guardian says, licking her finger to turn the page. The guardian's saliva is black, though it doesn't mark the page.

 

I stay standing, watching her.

 

"Depends. It's a bit much for tribal folk like me, but a fair number of my kin have embraced it." He shrugs, the hologram vanishing.

She doesn't do much other than breathe heavily and look at the ground.
