"I'd rather not get killed in my sleep like the last eight Matriarchs... so no, it isn't all that creepy for me at this point." She shrugs.

You mean, like, sling it over our shoulder and look intimidating?

 

"That's very strange." Eve says, intrigued.

 

"Well, take a rest if you need to. I'll be here."

 

"Yeah, or maybe on my head. Like those lion heads. Basically, the jaw would be on our head."

 

"Perhaps Lady Idhaenna could arrange a visit. If cryo draconians can survive the visit, I'm sure something with actual heat resistance will be too."

That seems dumb, though. It'd be like wearing a copy of your head on your head.

"Is there somewhere more convenient for me to crash, or is the middle of the hall fine?"

 

"No, I mean the head of the Ziz."

 

"Well, I hope there's some kind of protection they can offer that prevents the star's heat from affecting me." Eve says.

 

"There is. A cryo draconian dies at anything above freezing."

Oh, you mean we actually go rip her head off. Yeah, that might be fun.

 

"Most of the beds are vacant, but anywhere's fine with me."

 

"They sound like polar guardians, they can't handle heat very well." Eve says.

 

"Let's head to a room with a bed, then..." She yawns.

"Point is, there's protection. Not like I could just walk up in my bio days and go into a star without protection and not die."

 

I nod, then lead the way back to the other hall with the rooms.

 

She follows you wearily.

 

"I don't think the heat resistance of even a fire guardian can protect them from a star's heat." Eve says.

 

Soon we come across the rooms again.
"Just choose any without a kicked-down door."

 

"In a way, yes. With the lion example, they would kill it and basically skin it, wearing its head with the fur of its body stil attached."

 

"If they're of the fire element, shouldn't they be able to handle it? Or is there a separate element for something hotter than fire?"

Why not just sell the hide? It'd go for a pretty penny.

She points to the closest room without a kicked-down door.
"How about this one?"

 

"Well, stars have radiation too, don't they?" Eve says.

 

It says "Sasha" on it.
"Sure."
I open it up, and sure enough, it's a room with a bed.
