"Guardians often work together, despite the fact it's a tradition to only form relations with a guardian of the same element. While a fire guardian's weakness is water, a water guardian can easily deflect it and protect them." Eve explains.

 

“Are you okay?”
I stop, asking.

That fisherman scares me now.

 

Apparently.

Well, better worry about it in the morning. The horizon sky is starting to turn purple.

"Tired, but yes."

"So, they often behave as symbiotes...?"

 

"Yeah, let's just go with that. I don't know how else to put it, honestly."

 

Not like either of us have awards for doing anything particularly well.

 

"I apparently hunted down several of the Ziz' children. Is that award worthy?"

 

"In a sense, yes, though that doesn't necessarily mean that a group of guardians are not strong enough to overcome their own weaknesses. Fire can evaporate water, and water can douse fires. Their weaknesses are also their strengths." Eve explains.

 

I take the boat and row it to the island.

 

“Want to take a break?”

 

Do we have an award for it yet?

"I'd wind up falling asleep for stars-know-how-long. Probably sore, all things considered."

As you get there, your spirit is pulled into your resting body, and the cabin is a bit more cleaned up than you remembered it.

"Interesting. Magic is certainly interesting... strange, if nothing else."

 

"I'm guessing you trying to understand magic is like myself trying to understand a lack of it." Eve says.

 

"Nope, not yet. I could ofcourse just hang her head on the wall as a throphy."

 

I shrug.
"I can wait for that time."

 

"Sounds about right... though you really ought to visit a stellar being at some point. They're so strange, how they can't live outside of the star."

"You sure you don't want to do anything else in the meantime?"

Yeah, but we don't have a house.

 

"Maybe wear it? Like a piece of armor of something?"

 

"I'm not sure how long I'd be able to withstand the heat of a star." Eve admits.

 

But we already have a head.

"They're super childish, so sometimes that causes visitors to overheat. Usually they're just entranced by stories of... pretty much anything."

 

"I might look around a bit more, but it'd be good to keep an eye on you while you're sleeping. As creepy as that may sound."
