Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"They could be cared for, but it's forced suffering through inaction in a sense. An animal could be used to roaming large fields, but would be restricted to the confines of it's cage or area. It would be different if it was a wildlife reserve rather than a zoo however." Eve explains.

 

You could probably draw blood pretty quick from our... right claw? Which way is which?

 

"What are you talking about? I just mean drawing circles in the dirt."

 

Eventually we come across a burnt corpse. It seems to have been in a fetal position, with its knees nearing its chest before they died.

 

Pause.
"Right, no crazy habitat emulation here. I'm sorry, it's so weird for me to not be walking through holohalls or doors that lead to whatever room I think of as I turn the handle."

I thought you called me stupid.

"Somebody didn't really want to die." The Matriarch comments.

 

"That can actually be done with magic, to a degree." Eve says.

 

“Yeah, that was... less pleasant to see.”

 

"I did. What are you implying?"

 

You called yourself stupid, stupid!

"I suppose if I should know anything, it's that the survival instinct is awfully strong."

"Oh? Is it easier than using holoprojectors and interconnected nanomachines to emulate a planet?"

 

"I would think so." Eve says, nodding.

 

"I'm not stupid, stupid. You're stupid."

 

I'll take the one with the oars.

 

I nod, then continue walking.

 

But I'm stupid and I'm you, so you're stupid.

She stumbles a bit, seemigly on nothing.

It seems to have a note left in it.
"If you return it in the morning, I'll keep quiet. Don't scare off the fish for me, okay?"

"Hm... magic sounds extremely convenient. What else around here uses it?"

 

"But I'm also smart, and I'm you. So doors that mean you are smart too?"

 

"Shadows can use it, and Guardians are proficient at their element of magic. Some guardians, known as 'hybrid guardians' can control non-basic elements too if they mix their elements and don't specialise in one." Eve says.

 

I guess?

"...What? What's a guardian, and what's a non-basic element?"

 

(Should be does, not doors.)
"I don't know. All I know is that one of us is smart and one of us is dumb."

 

"Well, a guardian is one of Gaia's children who have mastery over a single element generally. The basic elements are Earth, Water, Air, Fire, Life and Death. Each guardian has magical powers themed around one of these elements, and their appearance shows it. Water guardians have blue hair and eyes, for example." Eve explains.

 

But we're the same person, so we're smart and dumb... do either of those have a second meaning?
