*wacthing intensifies*

 

The short-haired girl narrowed her eyes at Angela. “I’m not saying anything for you, seraph. You are expecting too much from an enemy.”

The dark-haired boy subtly lifted his head and looked up at his partner on the ceiling, who nodded back at him.

"Don't. You. Make. A. Move." Angela lowered her voice and growled at the girl, getting her wind magic ready.

The boy looked up, gazing at Rathius right in the eye— and smiled.

"What's so funny?" Rathius asked, gripping his fists together.

"We've spent too much time here. It's a counterattack."

".....!" Diabel and Carol, as well as the others, readied their weapons. They still didn't understand what the duo were capable of. Dia floated into the air, fireballs appearing around him. "You are not escaping here, human. Not with the insignia."

The boy shook his head and shrugged. "That's a shame." He started lifting his arms— to which Rathius reacted and tried to grab him again.

"......Ability ——— «Unarm»!"

As happened a few minutes before, there was a sound effect of glass shattering at the back of their heads, again. Then——

All of the people inside the room were unarmed of their weapons and magic in an instant. The weapons were dropped to the ground, and both Angela and Rathius who were making their move had been stopped mid-motion, and they lost momentum, losing balance.

And at the same time, the two bandits knocked their fists to the two demi-humans in front of them, knocking them back.

"...kuh!" Diabel raised a hand at the boy, who was running towards him from the front. Spirits appeared around him as he charged a magic—

The girl, who had been stuck on the ceiling, landed on Diabel's back, knocking him down to the ground. The boy leapt over the girl and sent a kick into both Carol and Archibaud, sending the defenceless warriors flying back. When he rose, Tyrinel, Dia, Kayde and Jack were ready to attack him——

Tentacle-like forms suddenly shot from behind the boy— from the short-haired girl, and hit the four of them, sending them flying back. The tentacles retracted back to the girl's raised arm, then instantly, she sent numerous slimy objects shooting at the people inside the room.

Kayde tried to sit up, but his arms were stuck to the walls behind him— the sticky substance had trapped him on the wall. All of the others— save for Alice and Roswaal— were trapped in the same way.

"Good job." The boy smiled at the girl, then turned to the rest in the room. "We'll be taking our leave, then."

"N0—!" Kayde screamed. "Eight Fingers————!!!"

The glass shattered on the window— and the two disappeared outside.

 

Rathius start to fill with rage and tries to free himself.

He puts his feet against the wall.
"Raaaaghr!"
With all his might he tries to pull his upperbody and arms forward, free from the slime. He tries to cross his arms, to cover the most distance for the slime to 'break'.

 

The two guards ready their weapons— one with numerous throwing weapons ready, and another one with a long rapier. The rapier user stood in front while the pick user stood at the back.

Rathius's slime flinged off, and he slowly stood up, looking around.

Roswaal had stood up and raised her arms. And without incantation, wind blew around the area, cutting through the slimes apart and freeing everyone.

"God.... Damn it!!" Kayde screamed, punching the wall hard. Blood trickled down his knuckles, but he didn't seem to care. His eyes were filled with an extreme emotion of both rage and fear. "Why... Why are they here!? Why are they..... in the Kingdom...."

Dia floated down to Alice. "I'm sorry, Lis. I failed."

Alice shook her head, looking angry herself. "Don't blame yourself, Dia. But we have to get it back."

"Lady Roswaal—!" Carol, standing up swiftly, she marched up to the magician who had freed themselves. "Would you please explain why— Why did you not try and stop them? With your power, they could've been...!"

 

Marcus held the stick steadily and charged, trying to connect the stick to the rapier-wielding guard to pressure him backwards or to the side so Marcus could get a clear shot at the guard with the throwing weapons.

 

The rapier user avoids touching the stick with his body— it really seems that the weapon was enchanted with something.

The guard at the back launched more picks, which Marcus lifted his pelt to block. He kicked off and started running to the guard— while the rapier user was approaching from the sid.

 

He tries to get most of the slime of off himself before he gets up.
"Yes. Explain yourself, or I'm leaving. I don't like playing games."

 

Marcus pretended to be focused on the ranged guard before making a sweeping motion with the stick in order to hit the rapier user.

 

I just observe in silence

 

Fortless City Gilde — Vorkir


"....Well done in the Capital. Your job was done perfectly." Leaning against the wall, the man— no, the youth— spoke. He was a good-looking boy with middle-length black hair, and black eyes. Everything seemed normal about him, in his formal black robes. In front of him was standing another man— this one slightly taller, wearing neat white suits. He was a man with an appearance not good or bad; with slightly long dark hair and purple pupils. He narrowed his eyes at the youth when he spoke.

"You didn't call me here just to congratulate me, did you? What is your purpose.... Shade?" He said, in a tone that was not exactly hostile— but certainly not friendly.

The youth who was called 'Shade' shrugged. "Of course, it's as you say, Acrux. I apologise since its just after another work— but you should know what I called you for. Isn't it in your gospel?"

With an annoyed expression, the man named Acrux took out a simple black-covered book and flipped through the pages. "Tch." He closed the book then, looked back at Shade, then shrugged. "Alright, it can't be helped. You're my superior after all."

Shade grinned. "Glad to have you helping. Now— A foolish merchant in this city of Gilde seemed to have found an artifact, and put it up on sale publically. Can you guess what it is?" When Acrux didn't answer, Shade shook his head. "It was an artifact handmade by the honoured Witch more than 400 years ago. And it was something that was stolen from one of our warehouse by some dirty Ability users of this empire. Don't you think it's a disgrace? Our superior finds this insulting."

"....And? What do I do?" Acrux asked.

Shade's grin faded, his expression seemed to turned dark. "You destroy the town. No survivors. That's the order."

"Hm...?" Now, Acrux seemed interested.

"Soon, Sloth's Authority will be turned off. We've decided to go out of cover— and we will have to battle. For that, I want you to gain as much power as possible."

Acrux grinned. "Alright, I'm in. What's the population of this town?"

"About 13000."

"Perfect." Acrux cracked his neck.

"I shall go to this particular merchant and retrieve the artifact. You can start the attack as soon as we arrive there." Shade lifted his hand, and chanted; "Al Limak!"

A portal opened mid-air— and through it, the two of them stepped into the night streets of the town.

"....!!" The rapier wielder didn't have the time to react— he was hit at the side of his head and knocked backwards. As soon as the stick made contact, an electric shock ran though the guard, making smoke rise from his body. He landed to the side, limp.

The last two guards were coming in— one was holding a long chain for attack, another a large wooden club. Two middle-ranged weapons— they might harm the people in here.

 

Remembering the people, Marcus retreated into the cell slightly, getting people in between he and the guards.

"Sadly.... no. In that split second, I couldn't use the magic necessary." Izanami answered, to Archibaud's dismay. The others were now standing up. All eyes were on Roswaal.

"Aaaha~. Iiiit's not like I'm doing this foooor fun, you know?" Roswaal said, scanning the faces of everyone. "Leet me explain. Those two— as they conveniently spoiled for us— are members of the Eight Fingers— a large-scale underground organisation from Vorkir Empire. It is indeed news if they managed to sneak into the Kingdom— and even to the Capital. None of the barriers in the city ever gave alert— it is like they had suddenly appeared out of nowhere."

"And as you might've seen— those two attackers, they were Ability Users, special race only found in Vorkir. The boy had whatever ability to negate all attacks at him— either physical or magical. The girl had some kind of becoming slime-like ability. Even if I launched magic, it would only harm the area, and not cause them any harm at all. So— I concentrated on tracking them." The woman tapped her head. "Now I haaaaave their locations mapped. It might be good to go after them, eh~?"

 

"Oooh. We're going after them alright. I'll snap that kid's neck the next time I get my hands on him."

He sits down.
"It would be a lot easier if I had my weapons with me, but I'm trained in hand-to-hand combat, so I should be fine."

In the streets of Gilde in the evening, there were many dragon carriages still running about. Gilde was one of the front-line trading towns in Vorkir— it was a fortless town of the empire.

Humming a tune, the dark-haired man wearing white suits walked down the streets. No people turned to look at him; and he didn't pay attention to them either.

"...This seems like a good location." The man muttered to himself. He walked off the sidewalk and stepped into the wide road— the road for dragon carriage transport.

"Hey you! What are you doing! That is dangerous— come back this instant!" A sentry guard shouted and came jogging to where the man had walked into the road. But he was already walking forward, to the middle of the road. There were screams from the bystanders as they saw the scene. A dragon carriage attempted to stop, but it couldn't lose its speed at all and trampled over the man———

No. In front of everyone's eyes, the dragon carriage— even the passengers and the dragons— turned into millions of wooden and bloody pieces, which shattered into the air and sprayed all across the road. And the man— he was standing amidst it all, not receiving a single wound or dirtying his clothes.

He slowly turned to the shocked bystanders, the opened his arms wide. He formed a huge grin on his face.

"Welcome, vermins, to hell!" He shouted, his voice echoing through the street. "My name is Acrux Lucifer Cythas— Cardinal Sin representing «Pride» in the Witch's Order!! Remember this name— before you die...!!!!"

The air shifted around Acrux— and purple flames came into vision, swirling around the man. He raised an arm into the air————

The purple fire cut through the entire field, killing everyone in Acrux's sight.

It might, but a hunter’s gotta use his environment. Human bodies aren’t exactly steady platforms anyways, and hitting one might leave an opening.

 

"At least nobody got hurt, right?" I say walking closer to the discussion "We can just follow them and get it back, if we get them by surprise it shouldn't be that hard" I say hoping for the best
