"That's exactly the problem. Unless you want Idhaenna coming here angry, EBB isn't an enemy. It... just has a tendency to shoot first and ask questions later."

 

"Perhaps I could simply disable it and reprogram it." Eve suggests.

 

"So that's it huh?" He shrugs, not really agreeing with the method.

 

"I don't recommend that, that's how its original programmers were killed."

Yeah. Questionable, I know, but I'd rather be alive than popular.

 

"Were they human?" Eve asks.

He starts laughing. "Haha, popular. Well, not in a good way at least."

 

"You'd have to ask Idhaenna. Or EBB itself, though I doubt it remembers."

Fair enough... Fame goes both ways.

"Why do people read so much, then?"

 

“Some people like the stories. Some like the information.”
I shrug.

 

"I wonder how many people write all that stuff... I'd think it would be just as many people that read." She says, seeming to become a bit lost in thought.

 

“Well, that’s what’s cool about books. You could be reading the works of someone long dead.”

 

"Exactly."
He lays back.

 

Eve contemplates for a while.

"Well, I'll deal with EBB if I ever meet it." Eve says.

 

"Hmm... that does sound interesting."

"Good luck. If you ever head over to Idhaenna's place, you'll probably meet it. Whatever you do, do not ask why it disobeys the three queens."

The ground's a bit cold, but your fur keeps the chill at bay.

I'll try to let you know next time I get tired of watching you be dying.

 

"Why? And why does it disobey 'the three queens'?" Eve asks.

 

"It is."
I nod.

 

"It gets trigger happy, and it disobeys them because it's more fond of shooting things to dust than building things from dust."

"So, the reading machine would just say what the book says, I guess?"

 

"Pretty much."

 

"Hm..." Eve says, before glancing up, "Aj's back."

"Oh, really? Where is he?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

"The statue room." Eve says.

 

"Got it. But don't think I can take care of myself."
