Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I start making my way further down the hall.

 

I remembered how much children scare me.

She silently follows.

 

"They do? Why?"

 

The claws, the recklessness.

 

Eventually we come across a belly-up corpse of a pudgy man with a dent in his chest. A streak of blood runs from the ground to the man.
I keep walking, ignoring the corpse.

 

"That's only those children. I like kids."

 

"Really?" Eve asks, surprised.

 

They're all a pain, though.

"Yeah. None of the rumors seem accurate, though. You aren't some crazy murder machine that acts like a less absurd EBB."

She doesn't comment, continuing on after giving the corpse a glance.

 

Eventually we come across an iron door at the end of the hall.
"Robots' quarters."
I say as I approach the door.

 

"Ugh, brilliant." Shadow Stephanie says, rolling her eyes.

"That seems like an incredibly incorrect view of me." Eve says, somewhat shocked.

 

"Fear does funny things."

"Were you all kept together?"

 

"It's interesting how people can be manipulated through it, too." Eve says.

 

"Not in the same room, per say."
I open the door, revealing a wider hallway with several glass tanks running along the side, the type of glass tank that one would find in an aquarium, except these have doors to the inside.

 

"No manipulation, really. Just delusions. A ton of people are scared of magic, but I'm curious. If Xlentia can use magitech, magic can't be all that bad."

"...You were kept here like pets?" She asks, expecting copious amounts of broken glass.

 

"Shadow Stephanie and I are friends with a demigoddess of magic." Eve says happily.

"She's where I take my form from." Shadow Stephanie adds.

 

Pozel hesitates.
"I, uh... okay. Are you going to have me meet her too, or just Eve?"

 

"She's currently with her mother. She's...out of action for a while." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

I shrug.
"Pretty much."
Most of the tanks going forward have the glass shattered, but the first few tanks still have metal skeleton-looking things inside of them.

 

"I'm sorry to hear that." Pozel says, looking worried. "At that, what about... who was she... Artemis, I think you said?"

She stops and spends a minute looking over one of the skeletons.

 

The skeleton in the tank labeled "I" seems human-like, but doesn't have the completely correct bone structure of one. The ribs are connected, forming a sort of short cylinder. There are also wires running up and down the skeleton, as well as an exposed head, featuring an incomprehensible jumble of more wires and metal.
