Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The guard picks Shadow Stephanie up, checking her over as the other guard keeps close eye on Pozel. The guard carries Shadow Stephanie back into the palace.

 

There's doors all along the sides of the hallway, but none of them are labeled.
Eventually, we come across what looks like it might've been a crime scene. Six bodies lie around, one atop another one.

 

He keeps his hands up.
"Did I do something wrong?"

"Did you stack these?"

 

"Nope. Died like that."
I keep going, avoid the bodies.

 

"That's... hard to believe." She says, looking for any nametags or identifiers on the bodies.

 

There's only roughed-up lab coats and skin left on their bodies.

 

"We'll have to see." The guard says, another guard appearing behind him and grabbing his hands, cuffing them together with strong crystal handcuffs.

 

He doesn't resist, following every motion.
"I guess this is one way to get out of the house..." He sighs.

She just turns back to you, still trailing a bit.

 

I wait for her to catch up, before continuing along.

 

The guard leads him into the palace, taking him to the dungeons and putting him in a holding cell.

It seems to be in nicer condition than some of the other cells, at least.

 

Ren pries it open ever so slightly. It's the same ore as before.

"I hear there has been an increase in crates falling to the crater. I wish to inquire about the reports."

 

He looks for nearby guards.
"May I take the cuffs off? There's something in my eye." He asks.

He closes it.


"All the same ore, miners won't give us the name. All of it intact, too."

"Where were you kept?" She asks, once caught up.

 

"The 'Living Hall', as they call it, is one of the hallways branching off from the entrance. This place doesn't exactly have a complicated floor map."
I explain, continuing to walk.

 

"Where are you heading next?"

 

"...We'll probably go to the living hall. There's not much of interest down the other hall except a few more bodies and a wrecked generator that may or may not make a good painting."

 

"We'll see. It'll probably be hard not to make a good painting out of this place, unless I fall asleep on the canvas again."

 

"I'll probably be by your side, if you don't mind. Haven't got much else to do."

 

"Well, why not try and see if any of this stuff works? Aren't you curious that maybe there's some final message or something left for you? I dunno, like a will or something? Or a goal, or at least knowledge on how you work?"

 

"There's no reason for there to be. I've searched the rooms before I even got out of here, there's no secret electronic box powered by the generator that'll tell me my destiny."

 

"Okay, fine, maybe not for you, but someone's bound to have tried to leave a message somewhere."
