Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I nod to the guard that opened the gate, walking through.
"Thanks."
I say to the guard behind the gate.

 

The guard behind the gate nods to you.

 

"If it doesn't bother you, why complain about it?"

The Matriarch stays close to you, uneasy once again.

Maybe we can, like, get them out of here when we bail?

 

"Don't worry. You've been here before, right?"
I ask, heading inside.

I go inside the palace, heading towards the portal room.

 

"Once, and I didn't leave conscious."

 

"Why's that?"

 

"I think someone said the queen gave me a heart attack, then I felt like I was getting dragged around."

 

"Never seen something that big, huh?"
I smile.

 

"No, I haven't. Nothing that made me worry there could be other beings that could be as cold and ruthless as the tyrants who left us to die in the ruin."

 

"Hm."
I acknowledge, thinking.

 

"She has since eased that fear, but... it's still present in the back of my mind."

 

"She's nicer if you get to know her."

 

"I haven't had much of a chance yet, but my art seems to have a following."

 

"Have you met these followers?"

 

"I would love too, but I don't know if they'll agree to it."

 

Shadow Stephanie just groans.

Once inside the portal room, the terminal seems to be missing. A few Shadows and air guardians seem to be working on creating a more advanced computer for the portal.

 

"Excuse me?"
I say to the nearest one, approaching them.

 

The Shadow turns around and adjusts their glasses.

"Oh, an automaton! How may I help?" The Shadow asks happily.

 

“My friend and I were hoping to use the portal.”
I return the smiling, gesturing to the Matriarch.
“Is it still operational?”

 

"Well, yes and no. We're working on upgrading the terminal to something more user friendly, but Steven has a laptop he can use to open the portal if you need to." The Shadow says.

"Did someone mention me?" An air guardian asks, turning around.

"Steve, do you think you could open the portal for these two?" The Shadow asks.

"Oh, sure thing. Where are you headed?" Steven asks.
