Kyelas: "Very well, my story, then."

Let me dig up Kyelas's backstory quickly...

 

Alice won't talk. I'll write up Heat's response soon.

 

She hasn't said she won't talk, so it's not like Caligo knows that.

I forgot I referred to Kyelas as "Kyelas-sama" on the doc as a joke

I take a deep breath.
Kyelas: "I was told that my parents were peasants in a nameless village somewhere, the location I am uncertain of. However, when I was very young, bandits attacked the village and, due to our lack of a militia, razed it. Though I am unsure of the amount of survivors, I do know that there were either none or they all fled. However, scavengers from a monastery looking for any survivors left behind found me in my old home... Or what remained of it. From there, they took me to my monastery and raised me there after they learned I was actually an Aasimar."

I pause for a second.

Kyelas: "Of course, this is only what I was told, I was not old enough to remember this. As such, I have no idea who my parents are, nor any leads towards that. Moreover, I don't even know my own birth name. 'Kyelas' was given to me by the monastery. There, I lived a normal life, for someone living in a monastery on a mountain, at least. I did have a few friends, though I was... A bit too dedicated to my training and studies to have many. However, I did meet a silver wyrmling that I rescued after it took quite a fall down the mountain. I'm friends with it now. There was also this rather... Er... 'Eccentric' girl, to say the least, by the name of Lute. Yes, like the instrument. Eventually, I got the letter and went to the library."

I let that all soak in.

Kyelas: "In short, there's a major hole in my life due to my parents being killed and village being razed when I was too young to remember it, which caused a monastery to take me in and now I'm here."

 

Alth:"that's probbaly the least sad story yet..."

 

Kyelas: "Indeed... Why is everyone's backstory a tragedy, exactly?"

 

How many normal, well-adjusted people would go out and risk their lives fighting goblins in caves or whatever?

 

Alth:"i can't speak for eveeryone but it just sounds like a lot of wrong place wrong time"

 

OOC Kyelas: "Mercenaries exist."

 

Even then, many of the mercenaries probably have similarly tragic backstories. You just never bother to look into their pasts.

Erevan: "And what of Okami? Where does she enter into your tale?"

 

Kyelas: "We were in the woods during our adventure and... She really came out of nowhere. I actually don't know her origin, nor her background. No matter."

Yeah, Spyro deus ex machina-ed Okami into existence.

 

Alth:"wish i had a pet..."

 

A beastmaster is actually supposed to summon their spirit-animal companion with a special ritual, but it's excusable since Spyro was a bit of a noob DM back then.

Erevan: "And what of this girl? You make it sound as if she is significant, then make nearly no mention of her."
